Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Orthopedic)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 4x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | Every other weekend expected (approximately 6 weekend shifts per contract)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 26-bed orthopedic spine unit specializing in spinal surgeries, including laminectomies, spinal fusions, and discectomies, with integrated pain management, physical therapy, and mobility support
• Manage a diverse patient population with diagnoses including Med/Surg, Telemetry, cardiac conditions, low-risk ACS, TIAs, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, dehydration, chest pain, DVT, and PE at a ratio of 1:5–6
• Perform and assist with special procedures including bedside lumbar puncture, post-cath care (radial/femoral), post-surgical care, post renal biopsy, CT angiography, and Heparin drip management
• Document accurately using EPIC EMR (1 year of experience required)
• Float to other units or campuses as needed based on census, limited to areas where qualifications and documented competencies apply
• Complete required pre-assignment modules and annual compliance requirements within designated timeframes

Required Qualifications

• Active South Carolina RN license or active multistate (compact) RN license — pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in a Med/Surg, Telemetry, or Orthopedic unit
• Orthopedic nursing experience required
• Active BLS , ACLS , and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
• Candidates applying to this night shift Med/Surg Tele position must reside at least 50 miles from the contracted facility to be eligible; candidates between 50–99.9 miles may be subject to a reduced bill rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with spinal surgery post-operative care, including laminectomies, spinal fusions, and discectomies
• Familiarity with Heparin drip management and telemetry monitoring
• Prior travel nursing experience welcomed; first-time travelers are also considered
