In this role, you will be exposed to operating projects for Wind, Solar, and Battery Storage. You will support meeting preparation, technical evaluation, and project organization. Required in‑office presence: onsite at least 2-3 days a week with an opportunity to work remotely one day a week. About SMUD's College Internship Program SMUD's College Internship Program provides college interns with an opportunity to contribute their skills and gain valuable work experience, workshops, and activities that immerse interns in SMUD's culture and help develop leadership and professional skills. Purpose Under staff direction, a full‑time student in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math program performs research and analytical tasks for projects aligned with their academic discipline. Nature and Scope Work typically involves analytical and independent research skills closely related to the employee’s academic major. Duties and Responsibilities Perform analytical or research tasks for specified projects requiring science, technology, engineering, or math skills. Locate information sources; collect and organize data. Make computations and analyze data to assess confidence and explore alternative actions. Develop computer programs and code for established programs as needed. Create written, graphical, and oral reports. Assist staff analysts and technical personnel under close supervision. Required Education Registration as a full‑time student (minimum 12 units) at an accredited college or university within a STEM‑emphasized curriculum. Desirable Qualifications Majors in Business, Engineering, Environmental, or Mathematics. Junior or senior status. Completed coursework in Statistics. Experience with Microsoft Suite. Internship Program Requirements Must commute to SMUD Offices in Sacramento, CA when requested. No relatives working at SMUD. Must be a full‑time student, maintain enrollment, complete at least 12 undergraduate units (or 8 graduate units), and maintain a 2.0 GPA for each semester/quarter prior to employment and throughout the internship. Cumulative GPA not considered. During summer, may work up to 130 hours per month. SMUD is not hiring candidates who require sponsorship now or in the future.
