Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 10/05/2026 Duration: 14 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel ICU Registered Nurse (RN) Location Puyallup, WA Facility Information Level III Trauma Center 375 Licensed Beds Unit Information MSICU: 40 beds CVICU: 10 beds (no specific CVICU experience required) PCU: 40 beds 2R PCU Obs: 18 beds (can increase to 27 total beds when overflow occurs) CCU: 30 beds Medical: 89 beds Surgical: 55 beds Flex Unit: 9 beds (consists of PCU and MS patients) Inpatient Rehab: 47 beds across two floors ER Holding Unit for patients waiting on a bed Experience Requirements ICU: Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience PCU/PCU ER Holds: Minimum of 2 years of PCU experience Med-Surg: Minimum of 2 years in an acute care setting First-time travelers are welcome Patient Types/Common Diagnoses ICU: Respiratory Failure GI Bleeds DKA Sepsis Complicated Post-operative Patients CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) Flap Surgeries Post-Arrest Cases Alcohol Withdrawal IV Drug Abuse Note: ICU does not handle craniotomies, major traumas, or major cardiothoracic cases. PCU: Respiratory Compromise Sepsis Renal Failure Bleeding Disorders General Medical/Surgical Patients CHF (Congestive Heart Failure) COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) Pneumonia General and Orthopedic Cases Medical-Surgical: Oncology: Neutropenic Patients, Post-Operative Care General Medical-Surgical: Post-Operative Cases, COPD, CHF, Sepsis, DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis), AKI (Acute Kidney Injury), Dialysis, COVID-19 related cases Ortho: Total Joints, Post-Surgical Patients, General Medical Overflow Palliative Care: General Medical with occasional surgical cases, including COVID-19 Rehab: Neuro: Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury, TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), Multi-Trauma, Post-COVID, Post-ICU Ventilator and Tracheostomy Patients are accommodated on the unit Patient Ratios ICU: 1:2 PCU and CCU: 1:4 (depending on acuity or patient discharge) Medical and Surgical: 1:5 Rehabilitation: Team Model of 2:8 (RN, LPN, Tech) Required Licenses and Certifications ICU: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS PCU: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Med-Surg: BLS, NIHSS Skills Required ICU: Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation, Vent Management, In Thrive Staffing Job ID 19062047.
