Licensed Practical Nurse- EMPATH Unit (Emergency Psychiatric Assessment Treatment and Healing)

Job Description Summary Under the direction of a registered nurse is responsible for all identified nursing care behaviors within his/her span of control during his/her tour of duty and is accountable to the Charge Nurse and/or designated individual. The LPN participates in the care of a defined patient population. The LPN assists with data collection, formulation of plans for patient care, and participates in the evaluation of outcomes of nursing actions. Required Training and Education Graduation from a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program and licensure as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state. One year of LPN experience preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or an AHA‑recognized equivalent) or from a Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Required Licensure and Certifications Licensed as an LPN within South Carolina or a compact state. Current BLS certification required. Physical and Mental Requirements Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, and working indoors and outdoors with temperature extremes. Ability to work from elevated areas, confined spaces, kneeling positions, bend at waist, twist, squat, perform pinching operations, use fists, manipulate fingers, reach overhead, perform repetitive motions, use legs and balance. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs., lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from/to floor 36 inches, lift 25 lbs. from 36” to overhead, exert up to 50 lbs. of force. Vision: maintain 20/40 corrected in one or both eyes. Hearing: maintain acuity with correction. Ability to perform gross motor functions and fine motor movements, cope with stress, work rotating shifts, overtime, latex‑safe environment, maintain tactile and olfactory senses, qualify for respirator use as required.
