Sandvik Mining is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a leading global supplier of equipment, tools, service, and technical solutions for the mining industry. This position will be focused on the development of Surface Mining opportunities and business development for the Sandvik product lines and support services.
Key Performance Areas
- Help drive business growth and market expansion for Sandvik Rotary Drills across the United States mining industry.
- Develop strategic relationships with mining customers, consultants, and key industry stakeholders to position Sandvik as a preferred rotary drilling solutions partner.
- Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities related to rotary blasthole drills, automation technologies, digital solutions, and aftermarket services.
- Support sales strategy execution through customer engagement, market analysis, competitive positioning, and value-based solution selling.
- Deliver technical and commercial solutions that improve customer productivity, safety, operational efficiency, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
- Collaborate with internal sales, product support, engineering, and service teams to ensure successful development and execution of business opportunities.
- Manage and support tender processes, commercial proposals, and project development activities for major mining accounts and capital projects.
- Develop a strong understanding of customer mining operations, drilling applications, operational challenges, and long-term business objectives.
- Promote Sandvik's rotary drilling technology, automation capabilities, and lifecycle support solutions within the surface mining sector.
- Maintain accurate pipeline visibility, forecasting, customer activity tracking, and opportunity management through CRM systems.
- Strengthen Sandvik's market presence by gathering competitive intelligence, identifying industry trends, and supporting strategic business initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Sandvik and customer Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards while supporting a strong safety-focused culture.
As a Business Development Manager you will be task to:
- Achieve market growth into Rotary Drill market with existing and new customers delivering sustainable profitable growth of both Key Customer Account(s) and mid-level accounts and prospects by driving the value selling team effort and Sandvik's complete surface drill offering.
- Be the expert on the customer/ prospect and its needs, developing relationships with key stakeholders, and consider all of Sandvik's product and service offering, define Sandvik's potential position with the customer, create/identify opportunities - and set a winning strategy and action plan for the account team to implement to proactively offer valuable solutions that contribute to the customer's success, becoming a go-to-resource that is preferred over the competition.
- Be the ambassador of Sandvik assuring quality communication. Contribute to a clear understanding of, and adherence to Compliance.
- Lead the management and building of customer relationships within Surface Mining operations within customer and prospects, leveraging the internal Sandvik team.
- Build a sales opportunity pipeline with the goal of sustainable and profitable customer account business growth
- Create a yearly Business Development Action Plan and implement it
- Manage sales opportunities in Salesforce - from scoping to negotiated agreement
- Coordination with all the Sandvik's teams (Account team, Branch Manager, BLM's) Manage relationships, and communication
- Maintain profitability of account, and manage contracts Gather customer intelligence, e.g. fleet analysis by mine site; and input to BLMs to address product offering
- Monitor customer satisfaction
- Drive Safety of work and promotion of Sandvik Safety Culture
- This position will report to the Business Line Manager for Rotary Drills and Automation.
Experience and Education
A bachelor's degree in business or engineering, or equivalent demonstrated knowledge / preparation / expertise, along with 5 - 8 years of Business development or industrial sales experience with demonstrated growth results. Familiarity with mining equipment is highly desirable. You have excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, along with a high level of professionalism, honesty, and integrity.

Compensation
Salary for this role is anticipated to be between $127,200 and $145,000 with 15% bonus eligibility
