Position Overview

Minncast is seeking a hands-on Quality Manager to lead quality assurance and control across our foundry operations. You’ll ensure products meet customer requirements, partner with production and engineering to resolve issues at the source, and drive continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate combines foundry process knowledge, strong problem-solving skills, and effective leadership with a visible presence on the plant floor across molding, melt, and finishing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Quality

• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers regarding quality matters.
• Respond promptly and professionally to customer questions, complaints, corrective action requests, and audit findings, providing clear communication through resolution.
• Lead investigation and resolution of customer returns and nonconforming product.
• Conduct root-cause analysis and develop corrective and preventive actions.

Foundry Quality & Process Control

• Maintain a daily presence on the foundry floor, working closely with molding, melt, and finishing departments to identify early signs of process variation and quality risk.
• Proactively address potential issues before they result in scrap, rework, or customer complaints.
• Analyze casting defects and work with operations and engineering to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing scrap, rework, customer complaints, and overall cost of poor quality.
• Help drive quality improvements that positively impact overall company financial performance.

Quality Management System

• Serve as Minncast’s Quality Management System representative.
• Maintain and continuously improve the company's quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
• Ensure quality records are complete, accurate, and properly maintained.
• Prepare quality metrics, internal audit results, customer issues, and other quality information for quarterly management review meetings.

Additional Quality Responsibilities

• Coordinate processing of test bars and material certifications.
• Spectrometer setup and calibration.
• Sand system control

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field preferred; equivalent manufacturing experience will be considered.
• 5+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within a metal casting/foundry operation.
• Strong understanding of foundry processes and casting defects.
• Experience with root-cause analysis, corrective action, and problem-solving methodologies.
• Experience working with ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, inspection requirements, and customer quality standards.
• Robust communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, production employees, supervisors, and management.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple quality issues and priorities simultaneously.
• Must be willing and able to spend significant time on the foundry floor.

We specialize in the production of low to medium volume castings ranging from 25 up to 2,500 lbs. out of carbon, stainless and duplex stainless-steel materials, as well as Ni-resist and nickel base alloys.
