Finance Controller

Our client, a fast-growing chemical manufacturer serving the construction industry, is seeking a Finance Controller to provide rigorous financial leadership across accounting, financial reporting, cash management, and cost accounting. This is a hands-on role for an accounting-focused finance professional who can ensure financial accuracy and discipline while supporting a rapidly growing manufacturing business.

Finance Controller - Key Responsibilities

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare, review, and analyze income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, identifying variances and issues requiring management attention.
• Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital controls.
• Oversee manufacturing cost accounting, including COGS and cost/production variances.
• Maintain strong accounting procedures, reconciliations, and internal controls to ensure integrity and GAAP compliance.
• Partner with AP/AR and accounting personnel, providing direction and review; supervisory responsibility may be assigned based on experience.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as the business continues to grow.
• Manage selected Finance, HR/payroll and administrative service providers, ensuring appropriate service levels and issue resolution.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, reporting, and efficiency.

Finance Controller - Key Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, ideally including Controller or senior accounting leadership responsibilities.
• Strong GAAP and financial statement knowledge.
• Proven experience with cash flow management, working capital, and liquidity planning.
• Strong manufacturing cost accounting experience.
• Demonstrated ability to manage recurring reporting deadlines with exceptional accuracy.

Finance Controller - Preferred Background & Skills

• Public accounting/audit background strongly preferred.
• Experience with AP/AR oversight, ERP systems, and external service providers preferred.
• Manufacturing or chemical industry experience, FP&A, CPA/CMA, and PE-backed company experience are advantageous.

Finance Controller - Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive base salary of $140K-$165K (experience dependent) with discretionary performance bonus.
