Overview University Correctional Health Care (UCHC), operating within Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, provides physical, mental health, dental and sex offender treatment services to individuals in the criminal justice system. Posting Summary Rutgers UCHC is seeking a Part‑Time Nursing Assistant for Southwoods State Prison in Bridgeton, NewJersey. The Nursing Assistant provides direct care to inmates under the direction of a Physician, Physician’s Assistant, or a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. Responsibilities Implements physician/associate practitioner orders within the scope of practice under the auspices of a Registered Nurse. Assists with feeding, bathing, and other inmate activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed within the Health Service Unit. Assists the physician/associate practitioner with procedures as needed, including preparing the inmate for the examination. Assists with the cleaning, sterilization, and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit. Maintains or assists in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit by ordering in a timely and appropriate manner. Minimum Education and Experience Graduate of an approved Certified Nurse Aide program with current certification in New Jersey as a Nursing Assistant. Certifications and Licenses CPR Certification. Valid driver’s license approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adherence to all DOC requirements. Preferred Qualifications Not specified. Physical Demands and Work Environment First‑responder must have physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes and be physically able to lift and rotate patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50pounds). Special Conditions Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements. Position Status Part‑Time Working Hours 20 hours per week, standard 40‑hour schedule, evening shift. Work Arrangement This position requires a full onsite work arrangement. Union Teamsters 97 Salary Grade 137. Minimum Salary: $20,410.00 – $21,540.00.
