Education about therapeutic goals, discharge planning, and home exercises will be an essential part of your interactions with both patients and their families. Diligently documenting evaluations, treatments, and progress according to facility and regulatory standards will be key to maintaining the highest quality of care. Participation in care team rounds and interdisciplinary conferences will further enhance coordinated patient care. To succeed in this role, you'll need to hold a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited program, with state licensure as a Physical Therapist being a requirement. While certifications such as in advanced therapeutic areas or CPR are valued, they are not mandatory. Previous experience enhancing patient care is highly recommended, as well as strong communication and teamwork skills. Being proficient in digital charting and clinical documentation will also serve you well.
