Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) (4 Day School Week)

2026-2027 School Year SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST (SLP) JOB GOAL To provide direct or consultative services to students with identified disabilities related to speech and/or language in order to derive full benefit from the district's educational programs. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE MA in Speech/Language Pathology Certification of Clinical Competence Arizona Department of Health Speech‑Language Pathologist Licensure Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring students with suspected and identified speech and language impairments. Conducts a thorough screening, assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, and language impairments; interprets results to parents and teachers and writes appropriate recommendations and reports. Develops, implements, and monitors IEPs for students eligible for speech and language services. Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community. Provides appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual student's needs and correct existing speech and/or language dysfunction. Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions for the student's daily activities. Provides information and support to parents and families when appropriate. Provides in‑service education and serves as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech services. Keeps thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving therapy or other school–provided speech services. Participates in professional growth activities and keeps abreast of new developments in the field. Establishes and maintains good rapport with students, employees, community members. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Other job‑related duties as assigned. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Able to communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and community members. REASONING ABILITY Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls and use a keyboard or keypad. The employee occasionally is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk or sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. May be required to lift students weighing up to 60 pounds. May be required to travel to perform work functions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus and monitor students on the periphery. WORK ENVIRONMENT The employee regularly works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
