Responsibilities:
If you’re passionate about supporting families and strengthening the foster care system, this role was built for you. As a Foster Parent Development Specialist at Health Connect America, you’ll actively recruit, train, and license foster homes—helping ensure children in care have safe, nurturing environments while guiding foster parents toward success. Your work will blend community engagement, education, and compliance to make a meaningful impact on children and families.
What You'll Do
As a Foster Parent Development Specialist, you’ll lead the recruitment, training, and ongoing support of foster families, while ensuring all licensing and compliance requirements are met. Day to day, you can expect to:
Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the foster care program and attract prospective foster parents
Conduct outreach through presentations, community events, mailings, and individual meetings to connect with potential applicants
Guide prospective foster parents through the application, training, and licensing process, ensuring timely communication and support
Deliver orientation and ongoing training to foster parents in accordance with state and organizational standards
Conduct licensing activities including home studies, assessments, and recommendations for licensure
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and ensure timely submission of all licensing documentation to the state agency
Support foster homes through oversight, guidance, and corrective action plans, collaborating with program leadership to maintain quality standards
Assist in the development and implementation of behavioral treatment plans and ongoing foster parent education schedules
What to Expect
This role combines community engagement, administrative responsibilities, and direct support to foster families. You’ll work closely with prospective and current foster parents, internal teams, and state agencies to ensure safe, high-quality care. Attention to detail, organization, and strong interpersonal skills are key to success.
You’ll also contribute to the overall growth and quality of the foster care program, supporting Health Connect America’s mission to provide children with stable, nurturing, and well-supported homes.
Qualifications:We welcome candidates who bring a genuine commitment to children and families and meet the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required — in Human Services with a minimum of two years of experience working with youth or families, or in a non-Human Services field with a minimum of four years of experience working with youth or families
- Must meet qualifications as a Qualified Professional (QP) with experience serving children and adolescents with a primary mental health diagnosis
