Compensation: $35 - $45 per hour
Employment Type: Full-time, hourly
Schedule: 12-hour rotating schedule; night shift openings
Our client is a food manufacturer operating a production facility in Kinston, North Carolina, with an active automation team.
The RoleThe Senior Electrical Automation Technician is at the forefront of enhancing and maintaining the facility's electrical control systems, driving automation solutions from initial setup and programming through ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting. You will work with the automation team to shape the plant's long-term technology roadmap and keep the automation infrastructure secure, backed up and up to date.
What You Will Do- Read complex electrical schematics and manuals to troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
- Solve automation and robotics software issues.
- Resolve PLC and touchscreen hardware issues to minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot control network issues and keep systems connected and reliable.
- Work with IT to maintain and troubleshoot servers.
- Identify and drive automation improvements that make processes faster, more efficient and more reliable.
- Partner with management and engineering on new projects.
- Create user manuals and training materials, and mentor maintenance technicians through hands-on training.
- Own the facility's electrical and automation documentation, organizing and backing up programs, schematics and network information.
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or technical school and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Allen Bradley / Rockwell automation experience (required)
- Programming experience, including RSLogix 5000
- Ability to work a 12-hour rotating schedule and night shifts, plus weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, safety rules, technical procedures and regulations, and to write routine reports and procedures
- Skill using multimeters, PCs and software to diagnose the root cause of electrical issues
- Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision and to provide technical leadership to maintenance technicians
- Clear communication with management, vendors, peers and production personnel
- Experience with mechanical systems, hydraulics and pneumatics
