Senior Associate - Family Law

Job Overview A law firm seeks a Senior Associate in Family Law for its San Jose, CA office, offering a hybrid work environment. The role requires a seasoned litigator to manage complex, high-conflict family law cases across Northern California. Duties Take primary responsibility for a complex, litigation-heavy family law caseload. Lead high-conflict cases from initial strategy through trial or resolution. Litigate matters involving complex asset division, support disputes, and contested custody issues. Appear regularly in court and deliver polished, persuasive advocacy. Draft and negotiate sophisticated marital settlement agreements. Strategically prepare clients, experts, and witnesses for hearings and trial. Supervise paralegals and ensure all pleadings and filings meet exacting standards. Maintain meticulous case documentation in CLIO. Uphold the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and client advocacy. Requirements 7+ years of exclusive or predominantly family law practice. Significant experience handling high-conflict, litigated matters. Proven record including, at minimum: 50+ contested hearings, 50+ marital settlement agreements, 10+ fully litigated cases. Meaningful experience with complex financial and asset issues. Education Juris Doctor from an accredited law school. Certifications Active member in good standing with the California State Bar. Skills Exceptional oral advocacy, legal writing, and negotiation skills. Strong strategic thinking, case ownership, and deadline discipline. Ability to perform at a high level in emotionally intense and adversarial environments. Proficiency with MS Office and familiarity with CLIO or comparable systems.
