High Voltage Electrician

We are seeking an electrical team member for our client site in Groton, CT. The successful candidate will have outstanding troubleshooting, maintenance and repair skills and will be committed to working with others to deliver best‑in‑class, unparalleled excellence in customer service and satisfaction. Responsibilities Act as the subject‑matter expert in troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical services and components up to 34,500 volts in a pharmaceutical research environment. Operate and maintain the site high‑voltage electrical distribution system, including substation protective relay systems. Troubleshoot outages and faults; prepare feeder switching orders and plan preventive maintenance. Communicate effectively with site management and customers to understand requirements, solve problems, and provide solutions. Identify and correct safety‑related issues; perform independent equipment evaluations to anticipate failures. Perform general maintenance of equipment and conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on all electrical equipment, switchgear, and distribution systems. Use test equipment to test motors, control circuits, motor drives, UPS systems, batteries, grounding, isolated power, ground‑fault circuits/outlets, voltage, and other load conditions. Inspect and perform safety tests on lighting/outlet circuits, generators, motors, appliances, tools, etc., ensuring compliance with NEC and regulatory requirements. Coordinate work with outside contractors and respond to service orders while ensuring code compliance. Recommend measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance. Operate a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers, and diagnostic hardware. Demonstrate flexibility in daily activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer. Qualifications Connecticut E1/E2 license. High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent. Five years of experience as a maintenance technician in Power/Utility Plants. Ability to work in a highly regulated environment and diagnose and troubleshoot basic mechanical equipment (pumps, fans, chillers, turbines, compressors, refrigeration, etc.). Strong mechanical, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to identify and correct safety‑related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations. Ability to obtain site‑specific security access, including background checks. Ability to pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and complete a fit test for each required respirator. Ability to work overtime, including holidays and weekends as required. Valid driver’s license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles. United States citizen or permanent resident; the position does not provide sponsorship. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and scaffolding, perform repetitive motions, and work at heights or in confined spaces as required. Compensation Hourly rate: $40.00–$50.00 (actual compensation may vary based on responsibilities, experience, education, market data, and relevant laws).
