Department: 11906 Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital - Environmental Services Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule Details/Additional Information: 7:30 a.m. - 4:0 p.m. – rotating weekends and holidays Pay Range: $18.85 - $28.30 Responsibilities Clean and disinfect assigned areas by washing walls, doors, door frames, ceilings, patient televisions, windows, furniture, tile, fixtures, appliances, floors, and equipment with appropriate cleaning solutions and following schedule-specific procedures. Operate various small electrical equipment, including vacuum cleaners, according to departmental procedures. Use chemicals and solutions in accordance with department policy, ensuring proper labeling and safety compliance. Maintain work areas in orderly, clean, and safe condition. Demonstrate commitment to customer satisfaction using AIDET with internal and external customers, resolving conflicts constructively, and maintaining a positive and supportive attitude toward patients, families, and staff. Thoroughly wash and sanitize beds for patients who are discharged; make beds with clean linen per department procedures. Clean and disinfect entire rooms and washrooms upon patient discharge, using appropriate germicides and established procedures. Replenish supplies such as paper towels, toilet tissues, soap, and other cleaning materials; collect waste and sanitize garbage cans. Follow Standard (Universal) Precautions and Infection Control Policies, and perform cleaning after emergency spills as requested. Prepare detergents, germicidal solutions, and other cleaning solutions according to established formulas. Sweep, dust, mop, and spot‑clean floor areas; shampoo furniture, carpets, and rugs following applicable schedules. Identify types of soiled and spot areas to determine appropriate cleaning solutions per departmental policies. Move, rearrange, and relocate equipment and furniture for cleaning and maintain orderly arrangements per floor plans. Report equipment needing repair, safety hazards, and return unused supplies to designated closets. Collect, distribute, or dispose of soiled or clean linens and manage hazardous as well as non‑hazardous waste according to Infection Control Committee procedures. Maintain professional growth by attending mandatory meetings, completing mandatory CBTs, following departmental goals, and seeking learning experiences. Maintain proper attendance and punctuality according to Hospital Policy and Procedure Manual. Qualifications Education/Experience: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience. Basic computer skills preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to operate small electrical equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaners). Excellent customer service skills. Ability to communicate effectively in English, including reading and comprehending chemical labels and other safety materials. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Responsibilities involve walking, standing, bending, climbing, and lifting throughout the work day. Must lift up to 35 pounds unaided; for larger lifts, use lifting equipment or assistance from another associate.
