We are seeking a detail-oriented, high-efficiency Life Underwriter for a high-impact contract role starting first part of August going through the end of the year. Whether you are an experienced underwriter seeking a specialized production focus or an ambitious associate underwriter with solid Swiss Re hands-on experience, this 100% remote position offers a fast-paced, heads-down environment where your risk assessment skills can shine.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate preliminary medical and non-medical risk factors quickly to provide accurate, informal quick-quote opinions.

• Utilize Swiss Re guidelines and internal underwriting digital tools to navigate complex risk scenarios efficiently.

• Maintain a strict production rhythm to consistently meet or exceed the mandatory 24-hour turnaround time for field requests.

• Assess common impairments—including hypertension, diabetes, cardiac risks, and mental health histories—to determine tentative rating classes.

• Communicate rationale clearly and professionally to field advisors using clear, advisor-friendly language.

• Educate field partners on risk assessment principles and proper usage of evaluation tools when necessary.

• Manage high-volume incoming requests through shared mailboxes while multitasking without sacrificing detail or quality.

• Document underwriting decisions and assumptions clearly within internal tracking systems.

• Distinguish critical risk factors from irrelevant information to make swift, reasonable assumptions with limited initial data.
