Maintenance Trades Helper

The Maintenance Trades Helper performs general labor duties, operates support equipment and assists other workers to complete non‑technical tasks associated with assigned requirements. Responsibilities Assists in keeping technicians supplied with materials and tools. Cleans working areas, tools, machines, and equipment. Performs entry‑level tasks as directed by technician. Job duties and responsibilities may change due to contractual requirements. May be required to operate vehicles and materiel handling equipment. Performs other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives. Work Conditions May perform work in conditions of inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing sand and dust, and working in confined spaces and at heights. Employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise. Personal Protection Equipment may be required to include a face mask. Physical Activities Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. Work requires stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting and occasional working in cramped and awkward position. A normal work week is 40 hours (5 days a week). May be required to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and overtime as mission requires. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one (1) year experience in a trade. Must have a valid REAL ID State Driver’s License with no restrictions. Experience or familiarity in automotive maintenance trades is preferred. Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug screen. Must be able to pass a standard background check. Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI Tier 1 Public Trust. Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, such as a birth certificate or a U.S. Passport. Must be able to maintain driving privileges aboard the Fort Bragg Installation. Experience & Skills Knowledge/awareness of safety issues and ability to perform duties in strict compliance with OSHA rules. Must be responsive, reliable, detail‑oriented, punctual, have good judgment and excellent problem‑solving skills. Ability to work both independently with little supervisory direction and as a team player. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in English (written, oral, and/or diagram form). Ability to interact with both co‑workers and clients in a courteous and professional manner. Ability to work productively with other staff in the workplace.
