Registered Nurse -Interventional Radiology - Full Time Days

Position Summary The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification, including initiation of culturally competent continuum of care in inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The RN is responsible for coordinating the interdisciplinary plan of care to ensure consistency with the medical treatment plan. Patient Care Process Assessment – identification, gathering and organization of subjective and objective data about the patient/family/significant other (including physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural factors). Planning – identification of actual or potential problems and desired outcomes (goals) that result in a documented plan of care, providing direction for the patient/family/significant other and the interdisciplinary team. Intervention – specific interventions or orders implemented consistently with the plan of care and the medical treatment plan. Evaluation – determination of the effectiveness of interventions in achieving the plan of care and determining conclusions regarding the achievement or lack of achievement of desired outcomes. Evaluation may initiate the need for reassessment and revisions to problems, goals, plan of care and interventions. This step provides documentation of required actions. Based upon findings identified during assessment and reassessment, patients have problems identified and prioritized relative to biophysical, psychological, environmental, self‑care, educational and social status; goals are identified consistently with the problem to provide direction for patient care and health promotion; education is tailored to the problem and goals to empower the patient. Employee may be required to perform Limited Laboratory Services, including patient identification and preparation for specimen collection, processing samples for testing, performing required quality control testing and instrument maintenance and function checks, monitoring, recording and reporting test results to clinicians (including critical values) and maintaining competency/certification of these tasks. Licensed and registered care providers are responsible for utilizing the care process relative to their scope of practice and knowledge base, documenting assessment, plan, intervention and evaluation. All patient care activities are administered according to standards, procedural guidelines and organizational policy. The RN actively supports performance improvement initiatives and provides leadership to other members of the patient care team. By participating in educational activities, the RN assumes responsibility for continued professional and personal growth. Clinical Settings and Requirements Emergency Room – 2 years medical/surgical and/or emergency room experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. ATCN or TNCC required within 24 months of hire or transfer. Minimum of 8 contact hours of education annually in basic trauma assessment, intervention and stabilization. Minimum of 8 contact hours of education annually in basic stroke assessment, intervention and NIHSS to be completed by 6 months of hire and continuously maintained thereafter. PALS or ENPC attained within 12 months of hire or transfer. Current staff must obtain CPI by 6/30/24; new hires or transfers CPI required within 6 months of hire and continuously maintained thereafter. Trauma Bay – Trauma experience required; 2 years preferred. ACLS, PALS & ATCN at time of hire. Harmony Trauma/ICU – 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; Critical care experience preferred. ACLS required at time of hire. ATCN required within 3 years of hire or transfer. CCRN preferred. Intensive Care Unit (ICU)/(CTICU) – 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; Critical care experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. CCRN preferred. Cardiovascular ICU (CVU) – 2 years critical care experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. CCRN preferred. Heart and Vascular Unit (HVU) – 2 years telemetry experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. PCU – 2 years telemetry experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. Medical/Surgical (various units) – Medical/surgical experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. CCRN preferred. Operating Room – Medical/surgical and operating room experience preferred. Effective 1/1/25, new OR team members must scrub or learn to scrub during orientation within six months. ACLS required by 12/31/24 for all RNs in the City OR. CNOR preferred. ACLS preferred. Pacifier/Same Day Surgery/Recovery Room – Critical care or PACU experience required. ACLS required at time of hire or transfer. PALS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. Intervention Radiology – 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; interventional and critical care experience preferred. ACLS at time of hire or transfer. PALS required within 1 year of hire or transfer. Catheterization Laboratory – Critical care, emergency room, cath‑lab or telemetry experience preferred. ACLS at time of hire or transfer. Endoscopy – 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; endoscopy, telemetry and critical care experience preferred. ACLS required within 6 months of hire or transfer. PALS, CCRN and CGRN preferred. Radiation – Oncology experience preferred. OCN preferred. Medical Oncology Infusion Services – Oncology experience preferred. ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Competency Provider required within 6 months of hire or transfer. OCN preferred. Structural Heart – 2 years experience in cardiology. Ability to perform phlebotomy, EKG, IV insertion. ACLS required at time of hire or transfer. Qualifications Education/License Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Nurses without a BSN must be enrolled in a BSN program within 1 year and complete within 3 years. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey or a valid multi‑state license required. BLS required. Valid New Jersey Driver's License required for all employees in the Adult and Child Partial Programs. Experience Proficiency in clinical applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within the position will be trained appropriately and then required to demonstrate skill within 30–60 days of hire. Certification and Training ACLS: Required within 6 months of hire or transfer. ATCN or TNCC: Required within 24 months of hire or transfer. Minimum of 8 contact hours of education annually in basic trauma assessment, intervention and stabilization. Minimum of 8 contact hours of education annually in basic stroke assessment, intervention and NIHSS to be completed by 6 months of hire and continuously maintained thereafter. Wound care and HBO training course through Healogics required within 1 year of hire or transfer. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 1 year of hire or transfer for Labor & Delivery, NICU, Mother/Baby Unit and Perinatology. EFM-C certification required within 12 months for Perinatology / Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM). CCR, CCRN preferred for ICU and critical care settings. Performance Expectations Demonstrates the ability to perform the department‑specific competencies listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. Work Environment Potential for exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, infectious disease, hazardous substances and injuries. May require considerable reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, extensive standing and walking (including stairs), lifting 25–50 pounds frequently and 50–100 pounds with assistance occasionally, and pushing and pulling heavy equipment. Some departments require the ability to distinguish colors. Unit Populations Served Barractic – morbid obese adults with comorbid cardiac, metabolic, renal, pulmonary, etc.; Cath Lab – cardiac/vascular conditions including CAD, carotid stenosis, renal stenosis, PVD, etc.; Critical Care – acute medical/surgical care of skeletal muscular, renal, neurological, pulmonary, CHF, shock, metabolic, etc.; Behavioral Health – psychiatric disorders including bipolar, schizophrenia, depression, psychosis, etc.; Endoscopy – chronic pain management, GI, pulmonary, etc.; Emergency Department – triage, assess, treat all ages across all systems; Intermediate Care – monitored post‑surgical care including neuro, GI, GU/GYN, etc.; Medical/Surgical – orthopedic, GI, GU/GYN, renal, metabolic, pulmonary and isolation precautions; Telemetry/Medical/Surgical – cardiac, neuro, GI conditions including CAD, PVD, COPD, CHF, metabolic, etc.; Telemetry/Stroke – cardiac, neuro, renal, GI conditions including CAD, PVD, CVA/TIA, COPD, CHF, metabolic, etc.; Wound Care – ostomy diversion surgeries, pressure sore/ulcer, etc.; Structural Heart – adults with structural heart disease, CAD, PAD, heart failure, lung disease, diabetes, arrhythmias.
