Job Description

Requirements:

Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
BLS and ACLS certification required
CPAN (Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse) preferred
1+ years of PACU/critical care experience required
Experience with airway management and post-anesthesia recovery protocols

Duties:

Provide immediate post-operative and post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgical procedures
Assess and monitor patients for airway patency, hemodynamic stability, and anesthesia recovery
Manage pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms per physician orders
Recognize and respond to post-anesthesia complications (respiratory depression, hemorrhage, hypotension) with appropriate interventions
Monitor and manage airway and ventilatory support as needed during emergence from anesthesia
Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and interdisciplinary team on plan of care
Educate patients and families on post-operative care, pain management, and discharge instructions
Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient response in the EMR
Determine readiness for transfer to inpatient unit or discharge per facility criteria
Ensure infection control and safety protocols are followed during recovery
