The Quality Inspector A is responsible for ensuring compliance with Airbus Helicopters Inc. policies, procedures and Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) and/or European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulations as applicable. Duties include performing preliminary, hidden damage, in‑process and final inspections; receiving inspections approving or rejecting incoming materials; working with inspection tools to resolve tolerances and specification limits; and performing detailed inspections of parts, materials, paint, back‑shop activities, functional tests, operational tests and dimensional inspections to determine airworthiness. Responsibilities Inspection: 60% – Perform required technical inspections to receive or reject incoming material, airframes, aircraft components and to detect/report suspected unapproved parts; in‑process inspections for components in electrical back‑shops, manufacturing, composites, MRO and paint shop; detailed inspections including dimensional checks and acoustic tap testing; inspect aircraft structures for cracks, corrosion, damage and improper assembly; resolve accurate shimming and joining of structures; detect hidden damage during inspections; verify build of aircraft system wiring harnesses; quarantine non‑conforming components; supervise use of measuring and test equipment; perform stock inspections/purges; evaluate and disposition sales returns; select product samples and validate against approved drawings; accomplish in‑process and final quality inspections for maintenance, repair, modification, rework and overhaul of aircraft components and sub‑assemblies; perform conformity inspections for STC development projects, PMA parts, structural and electrical components; inspect multiple airframe components for proper fit, form and function; validate disposition of parts or repaired parts; qualify dynamic component parts using visual inspection; observe and validate instrument connections and functional tests; ensure compliance with applicable calendar/hourly inspections, life‑limited or cycle‑limited components, airworthiness directives and alert service bulletins; verify testing for ELT, transponders, altimeters, airspeed indicators and air data computers per Title 14 CFR Parts 91, 135 and 43. Documentation: 30% – Ensure proper tagging, identification and airworthiness of parts released; compare quantity, part number and serial number of items received with procurement data; create, distribute, track in SAP and disposition the monthly Shelf Life Expiration Date (SLED) report; create NCM's for non‑conforming material and coordinate with Quality Engineers; ensure all materials have required documentation (e.g., 8130‑3, EASA Form, Certificate of Conformance); process goods receipts during receiving of material; document applicable maintenance actions for airframe, engine, accessories and components; research airworthiness directives, service bulletins and alert service bulletins for applicability; read and validate engineering drawings, reports and test specifications; properly identify and document items in quality quarantine cage; document and prepare parts for return to service after production, maintenance, overhaul, repair, inspection, test or modification; compose and prepare required delivery documentation in relation to qualifying the airworthiness or return to service of aircraft, engines, parts, components and systems. Quality Department Support/Continuous Improvement: 10% – Apply Airbus Core Values to create an environment for success; perform routine process audits; review quality procedures, processes, documents and forms for accuracy; ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and FAA & EASA regulations; support company events, departmental meetings, special projects and team meetings; propose innovations using lean methodologies. Education and Qualifications Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred Education: Associates Degree or equivalent experience in Aviation or related industry. Required Experience: 4 years of quality inspection on aircraft components and systems, or 6 years as a certificated aviation maintenance technician (AMT) on aircraft components and systems. Preferred Experience: Minimum 6 years or equivalent diversified experience on Airbus Helicopters products as either a certificated AMT or quality inspector. Required Licensure/Certifications: None. Preferred Licensure/Certifications: Current/Valid FAA Airframe & Power Plant License; FAA Inspection Authorization (IA); FCC 2nd Class License; Non‑Destructive Inspection (NDI) Certificate. Travel Required: 15% Domestic and International. Citizenship U.S. Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license). Physical Requirements Onsite: 100% unless on business travel. Vision: able to read computer screens and engineering drawings daily; correctable near and far vision if applicable. Hearing: able to hear conversations and production‑floor alarms daily. Speaking: able to speak in conversations, meetings and deliver information daily. Equipment operation: able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools daily. Carrying and lifting: able to carry and lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30 lbs daily. Pushing / pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment daily. Sitting: able to sit for long periods in meetings and working on computer several times a week. Squatting / kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving daily. Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor daily. Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice 15% or less yearly. Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces daily. Personal Protective Equipment: required PPE includes safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks and/or protective gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
