Sr. Librarian (Branch Manager/Dept. Head)

Dougherty County Public Library has 1 vacancy for Sr. Librarian (Branch Manager/Dept. Head). The employee in this position is responsible for acquiring, maintaining, and organizing library information, coordinating library programs, and assisting library patrons.

Oversees and directs all aspects of library operations such as circulation, reference, adult and children's programs, and outreach programs; may supervise library branch staff and/or volunteers.

Performs yearly evaluation of staff supervised.

Responsible for the accurate reporting of staff work hours and leave hours. Prepare payroll report for the library branch.

Gathers and maintains information for reports on library income, usage, activities, and events; updates library information as needed. Prepare weekly deposits and ensure daily balance between recorded intake and ILS cash reports

Recommends additions to library collections based on an assessment of public interest and needs.

Promotes community image of library and public awareness of library services through public information programs, outreach programs, displays, public presentations, and media interviews.

Monitors physical branch conditions; makes recommendations on maintaining grounds, buildings, and fixtures.

Ensures that equipment and facilities used by the public are in working order on a daily basis; advises patrons on the use of computer resources, operations, and the Internet.

Assists the public at the service desk, checks out materials, retrieves reference sources, answers reference questions, makes recommendations, issues library cards, collects fees, and provides information as requested.

Master's degree in Library Science from an institution accredited by the American Library Association, with two or more years of professional librarian experience desirable. Supervisory experience is desirable. Must be certified as a Librarian or able to obtain certification within six months of employment by the Georgia State Board for the Certification of Librarians. The ability to obtain and maintain valid Georgia Driver's license.
