Sonographer, Lead

Position Summary Sonographer, Lead – Winter Park Imaging Center (Northeast Region: Lake Mary, Oviedo, Altamonte, Winter Park, East Orlando, Jewitt). Full‑time, Day Shift (4x10 Hours). Directs daily workflow, assists the Department Supervisor/Manager/Director, and provides quality patient care in diagnostic cardiology, vascular, or general sonographic imaging under supervisory guidance. Responsibilities Demonstrate competency in performing routine general, cardiology, and/or vascular ultrasound diagnostics, and maintain equipment operation and maintenance. Perform diagnostic imaging and related procedures as outlined in the Echo/Vascular Sonographer III or General Sonographer III job descriptions. Assume supervisory duties in the absence of the Supervisor/Director/Manager of Non‑Invasive Cardiology when requested. Direct and assist with daily workflow of the imaging team, including patient flow, supply ordering, staffing assignments, and resolution of customer service issues. Coordinate with vendors and Clinical Engineering to schedule equipment downtime for preventive maintenance and repairs; report equipment issues promptly. Collaborate closely with radiologists, cardiologists, or vascular physicians to perform general or non‑invasive/invasive cardiology and/or vascular diagnostic sonographic exams, functioning independently when needed. Maintain CEU tracking for department sonographers. Assist with maintaining the department’s time‑keeping using Orlando Health’s system. Supervise student sonographers, train and orient new sonographers, and direct daily workflow; participate in quality and safety initiatives, act as a department super‑user, and serve on modality, department, or facility committees. Provide specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in the assigned discipline and lead others in complex problem solving. Use advanced analytical thinking to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions. Work independently with guidance only in complex situations. Interpret business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services. Recognize normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, obtaining and documenting pertinent clinical information. Exercise professional judgment, maintain a complimentary demeanor, and deliver appropriate care while ensuring successful procedure completion. Comply with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality; participate in department accreditation initiatives. Adhere to Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards. Assess patients’ physical condition and age‑specific needs; provide instructions that promote cooperation and desired results. Perform proper patient identification, acquire clinical history, and ensure accurate documentation. Position patient, equipment, and associated devices, manipulating technical factors to achieve high‑quality images suitable for interpretation. Assess diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring all relative anatomy is demonstrated. Comply with Quality Control standards and participate in all Quality Control tasks. Administer medical aid as required for emergencies and apply standard precautions with personal protective equipment to prevent cross‑contamination of contagious diseases. Utilize all Orlando Health computer systems effectively and accurately; ensure safety of all customers and maintain accurate documentation. Record verbal and telephone orders from physicians in the patient record; communicate openly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team. Maintain punctual attendance and compliance with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards. Assist with transporting patients and performing clerical duties such as printing reports, scanning documents, and scheduling patients. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas; ensure equipment is well‑stocked. Be available to work at any Orlando Health facility and to perform after‑hours and call shifts as needed. Assist with contrast administration, including intravenous insertion and removal for diagnostic contrast medication if pertinent to the department. Qualifications Education and Training: Meet the current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) guidelines as required by the assigned department. Licensure and Certification: Maintain current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification; hold one of the following: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in two of the following registries: Abdomen, Breast, Musculoskeletal, Neurosonology, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, or Vascular. Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Fetal Echocardiography. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS), or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) through CCI. Experience: Two (2) years of sonography experience, demonstrating competency in routine and complex general ultrasound exams (Abdominal, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, Doppler, Interventional, Small Parts, Contrast), or routine and complex echocardiology exams (2‑D, M‑Mode, Strain, Contrast), or routine and complex vascular sonography exams. #J-18808-Ljbffr Orlando Health
