GIS Technician - North Carolina

Location North Carolina (candidate will have the flexibility to work out of their home office but must reside within the state of North Carolina) Schedule Full‑time, Exempt Compensation and Benefits Competitive base pay: $48,000-$60,000 per year Health, dental, and vision benefits 401(k) with company match and disability coverage Paid time off, sick time, and holidays Tuition reimbursement and professional training Recognition programs and growth opportunities ClassPass and Breethe Memberships Responsibilities Manage and prioritize GIS service requests Respond to ticket updates Deliver accurate GIS products Track progress within ticketing systems Ensure quality and accuracy across deliverables Meet established timelines Participate in ongoing professional development, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance technical skills and support team objectives Qualifications Strong active‑listening skills with the ability to understand requester needs, ask clarifying questions, and align expectations. Excellent attention to detail in data review, GIS deliverables, documentation, and quality assurance processes. Proven critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities to identify issues, evaluate solutions, and resolve challenges effectively. Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders and team members. Collaborative team player who works well across departments, shares knowledge, and supports organizational goals. Strong time‑management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize competing requests and meet deadlines. Adaptability and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced, changing environment. Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a GIS professional. Direct on‑the‑job, non‑academic experience with GIS technologies including ArcGIS Pro. Strong understanding of GIS concepts. Must be advanced with MS Office Suite specifically, Excel, Word, and Outlook. Must have an iOS or Android smartphone to be able to access ORC's systems. Valid driver’s license. Bonus Points Bachelor's degree in GIS or related field. Experience with ArcGIS Online and/or past or current Vendor GIS Certifications (ESRI, etc.). Physical Requirements Regularly required to clearly communicate and exchange information in person, via phone and email. Substantial repetitive movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers due to high amounts of computer usage and typing. Expected to spend long spans of time in front of a computer screen. Able to read, understand and interpret department‑related documents and data.
