Structural Engineer – In-House Building-Envelope & Restoration Engineering Lead (Building Restoration Services)

Job Overview:

The Opportunity:

You will serve as our primary in-house structural engineering expert, leading structural evaluation, design, and stamped approvals for complex commercial building-restoration projects across the I-495 belt. This hybrid role empowers you to combine advanced technical analysis with direct field engagement, bridging the gap between office engineering and active job site execution. You will have direct authority to sign and stamp structural details while shaping practical repair strategies that keep our restoration crews operating safely and efficiently.

How You Will Make an Impact:

• Conduct thorough on-site investigations to evaluate deteriorated masonry, concrete, steel, and existing structural components.
• Prepare, sign, and stamp structural calculations, repair drawings, details, and official forensic reports.
• Design and engineer temporary shoring, bracing, stabilization, suspended staging, and access-system loading connections.
• Formulate practical repair solutions that prioritize worker safety, structural integrity, constructability, and schedule efficiency.
• Collaborate directly with project managers, superintendents, and foremen to clarify engineering details and resolve field conflicts.
• Review vendor shop drawings, submittals, and material specifications to verify alignment with stamped structural designs.
• Support project estimators by identifying structural risks, scope requirements, and realistic repair quantities during pre-bid reviews.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Massachusetts in good standing.
• Valid authorization and willingness to sign and stamp structural calculations, drawings, repair details, and engineering reports.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional structural engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering from an accredited program.
• Proven experience with structural analysis and design software, AutoCAD, and evaluating existing building materials.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel up to 10% within the regional project territory.
• Physical ability to safely access active construction environments, elevated scaffolding, swing stages, and roofs.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

• Direct background in structural restoration, rehabilitation, masonry repair, or forensic building investigation.
• Working proficiency with Revit software applications.
• Demonstrated experience designing temporary construction supports, shoring systems, or fall-protection anchorages.
