Occupational Therapy Assistant

Position Summary:
Donalsonville Hospital is seeking a caring and motivated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our rehabilitation team. The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to carry out treatment plans designed to improve residents' ability to perform daily living activities and maintain functional independence.


Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Occupational Therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans.
• Guide residents through therapeutic activities and exercises to improve mobility, coordination, and self-care skills.
• Instruct residents in the use of adaptive equipment to enhance independence.
• Observe, record, and report residents' progress and responses to treatment.
• Provide education and support to residents, families, and staff regarding therapy techniques and goals.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
• Collaborate with the rehabilitation and nursing teams to ensure comprehensive resident care.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Current state license or certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
• Current CPR certification (preferred).
• Experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
