Senior Power Systems Engineer

We're hiring a Power System Engineer in Buffalo, Rochester or Syracuse, NY. This is a hybrid role with approximately 10% regional travel. The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000- $126000a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. What you’ll do: Provide technical consultation in power systems studies, power quality analysis, design, installation, startup, maintenance, repair, and training. Independently manage assigned projects, ensuring timely delivery within budgeted cost estimates and maintaining job cost accountability. Interpret customer specifications and inquiries to develop tailored technical proposals and pricing strategies. Provide innovative solutions that may include equipment upgrades, system testing, and design enhancements to improve performance and safety. Lead and mentor engineers on medium-sized projects, fostering technical growth and collaboration. Conduct and analyze Short-Circuit, LV/MV Coordination, and Arc Flash studies with precision and insight. Execute medium-complexity studies and projects independently, demonstrating strong problem-solving and project management skills. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience with a focus on power systems analysis. PE License IEEE Membership Position Criteria: Successfully complete and maintain compliance with Eaton’s safety program and policy; This includes role-applicable portions of the EESS Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) program and any required annual re-certifications thereafter. Submit to periodic customer required background and drug screenings. Power Quality Measurements, Load flow analysis, Motor starting studies and Harmonic Analysis Strong theoretical understanding of power system analysis for low- and medium-voltage applications. Experience with power system analysis including short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash hazard analysis. Experience with managing a diverse range of small- and medium-sized projects unassisted, within targeted deadlines and budget. Strong ability to cross-collaborate with adjacent functions (Sales, Project Management, Manufacturing, etc) and to coordinate with external customers and contractors. Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead customer-facing discussions and technical collaborations.
