Position Summary The Loan Operations Manager reports to the Director of Lending and is responsible for overseeing the loan origination process from intake through closing, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and compliance across all lending activities. This role supervises Loan Officers across Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, providing day‑to‑day guidance, training, and performance management to strengthen loan production, improve application quality, and ensure accurate and timely pipeline management. The Loan Operations Manager is accountable for maintaining a high‑performing loan pipeline, ensuring data integrity within our online databases, and supporting reporting to leadership, funders, and the board. The role works closely with the Loan Servicing & Underwriting Manager to ensure seamless coordination across origination, underwriting, and servicing functions. This position supports LEDC’s strategic goal of growing its lending portfolio to $20 million over the next three years by improving conversion rates, increasing loan production, and enhancing operational efficiency, while maintaining strong compliance with organizational policies and funder requirements. LEDC is a U.S. Treasury‑certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and SBA Microloan Intermediary. LEDC provides loans ranging from $5,000–$250,000 to small businesses and $1,000–$5,000 to consumers seeking to build or repair credit. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage the full loan origination pipeline on our database from intake through closing. Oversee intake, eligibility screening, and application completeness. Ensure timely progression of applications across all stages. Monitor pipeline performance, including volume, conversion rates, and time‑to‑close. Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements. Ensure loan production aligns with organizational and funder goals. Team Leadership & Performance Management Supervise and manage Loan Officers across all markets. Establish clear production goals and monitor individual and team performance. Provide ongoing coaching, training, and technical guidance on Pipeline management Loan structuring and documentation Client communication and relationship management Identify performance gaps and implement targeted training and development plans. Support hiring, onboarding, and continuous professional development of Loan Officers. Cross‑Functional Coordination & Closing Coordinate with the Loan Servicing & Underwriting Manager to ensure smooth handoffs from origination to underwriting and servicing. Ensure loan files are complete, accurate, and ready for underwriting review. Support loan committee preparation by organizing and validating application files. Facilitate efficient movement of approved loans through closing. Support coordination on loan modifications and risk‑related cases, ensuring proper documentation and communication across teams. Compliance & Quality Control (Pre‑Closing) Implement and enforce compliance standards, ensuring adherence to internal policies and funder requirements. Maintain compliance with CDFI and SBA Microloan program guidelines. Establish and maintain quality control processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of loan files. Support documentation readiness for audits and funder reviews. Collaborate with servicing team on delinquency‑related cases by supporting communication and documentation needs as required. Systems, Data & Reporting Serve as primary owner of Lending software. Ensure accuracy, completeness and integrity of pipeline data. Establish data quality standards and monitor adherence across the team. Track and report on key pipeline metrics (volume, conversion rates, time‑to‑close, production). Prepare and contribute to reports for internal leadership, funders, and board as needed. Conduct trend analysis to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities. Support Loan Officers in managing relationships with referral partners and community stakeholders. Participate in partner meetings as needed to support pipeline development. Ensure alignment between partner referrals and application quality. Coordinate with Loan Officers to track and meet funder‑specific deliverables and reporting requirements. Collaborate across teams to resolve client issues promptly and efficiently, ensuring a positive borrower experience. Support the Director of Lending and Loan Servicing & Underwriting Manager in the development and implementation of new lending products. Knowledge of and sensitivity to underserved communities College degree with two or more years of experience with commercial lending. Excellent organizational skills, and ability to manage projects/tasks with multiple team members and deadlines. Strong technical skills, including qualitative and/or quantitative data collection, analysis, and research skills. Expertise analyzing data using quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Strong attention to detail and excellent proven writing, editing, and communication skills. Manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity. Ability to self‑start and problem solve in a fast‑paced work environment. Willingness to work a flexible schedule with minimum supervision and participate in evening and weekend events as needed. Strong public speaking and presentation abilities to deliver presentations to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders. Demonstrated experience in mentoring and managing employees. Experience in conducting interviews or participating in the hiring process is preferred. Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage, mentor, and guide team members. Additional Qualifications Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends, as needed, to support program delivery and community events. Ability to travel up to 25% to support clients, programs, events, and other office locations. Access to reliable transportation. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual in English and Spanish, with professional proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication in Spanish. Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and scanners. The office environment is generally climate‑controlled; however, temperatures may vary, and some individuals may find it too warm or too cool at times. Hybrid Work Model: LEDC maintains a hybrid workplace model. In‑office schedules vary by team, but all staff are expected to be able to report to the office any day of the week, as needed. Schedule: Typical office hours are 9 am‑5 pm, however the finalized schedule is approved by this position’s supervisor. This is a full‑time or part‑time, exempt role which typically requires 40 hours per week. Some travel or work outside of normal hours may be required. Travel: This role requires occasional travel for meetings, trainings, and events within the DMV region. Rarely, occasional overnight travel may be required. Primary Reporting Location: 1401 Columbia Rd. NW, Unit C‑1, Washington, DC 20009. Physical Requirements This is largely a sedentary role; however, some or all of the following may be required. Ability to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods (e.g., sitting at a desk). Ability to move about the office to access files, office machinery, etc. Ability to occasionally move/lift/carry up to 10–20 pounds (e.g., office supplies, files, equipment). Constant operation of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and scanner. Ability to operate standard office equipment (copiers, printers, scanners, telephones). The person in this position frequently communicates with staff, external stakeholders and clients who have inquiries about our services and/or their cases. The incumbent must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Constantly views and reads information on a computer screen for extended periods. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, over the phone, and in writing. Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet). Ability to hear and respond to spoken communication during meetings, calls, and office interactions. Regularly works in an office setting with moderate noise levels. Ability to enter and move through commercial buildings, including navigating stairs, elevators, hallways, and uneven surfaces. Occasionally required to travel to external locations for meetings, trainings, or events. Salary and Benefits The salary range for this position is $79,022.00 – $88,092.00, commensurate with experience and team budget and covers all hours worked.
