Engineer II

EngineII (NS) – Water Resources, Division of Water Resources, Technical Services Branch, Plan Review Unit – Public Water Supply Section Overview Primarily an office‑based role with occasional site visits to sanitary surveys and water‑system sites. The engineer reviews plans, reports, and specifications for public water system supply, treatment, storage, and distribution facilities, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. Key Responsibilities Review engineering designs, reports, plans and specifications, calculations, and other supporting information submitted for approval and authorization to construct public water system facilities. Evaluate documentation for compliance with federal/state statutes, rules, and regulations. Review Water System Management Plans to ensure that federally mandated capacity development requirements are met. Prepare approval documents. Provide effective and timely technical assistance based on a thorough knowledge of drinking water rules, regulations, and engineering principles. Serve as a program technical advisor for other PWS Section staff. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering from an accredited institution and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Professional Engineer licensure or Engineer‑Intern certification is not required but considered an asset. Strong ability to manage multiple projects, meet schedules and deadlines, and maintain organized records. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a thorough knowledge of drinking water engineering principles. Benefits & Work Arrangements Hybrid telework option (routine office and remote workdays). Telework subject to change at management’s discretion. Salary range: $63,927 – $88,855.
