Assistant Director of Nursing

As a member of the Management Team, an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) will maintain a unified presence and will be supportive of the Organization's mission and administrative efforts at all times in a positive manner and approach. General responsibilities include positive leadership assistance to the Director of Nursing in the overall functioning of clinical services, including all aspects of resident care and management of employees in the Department of Nursing.

Works under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing.

Direct supervision is exercised over all nursing employees on assigned Pavilion.

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following:

• Support the mission of Grand Traverse Pavilions.
• Embrace and support the Quality Assessment Performance Improvement (QAPI) philosophy of Grand Traverse Pavilions striving toward continuous quality improvement of tasks and systems. Advance recommendations for quality improvement to respective supervisor.
• Comply with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations as defined in the Organization's Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.
• Maintain strict confidence regarding content and/or discussion related to records and information of constituents.
• Promote environmental safety by compliance with Organization's Safety Policies and Procedures, and by monitoring for safety compliance by constituents.
• Responsibilities/accountable for resident care and associated activities on assigned Pavilion twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week including delegation of duties/responsibility to nurses on each shift and monitoring to ensure appropriate follow-through of delegated duties.
• Provide positive leadership to all constituents of the organization in accordance with all policies and procedures of the Organization, including Resident Care Policies and Resident Bill of Rights.
• Ensure compliance with State and Federal Regulations, nursing standards of practice, and all other applicable rules and regulations. Facilitate interpretation of standards as they apply to nursing care and documentation, service delivery, staffing, and environment.
• Participate in application of standards including but not limited to Minimum Data Set (MDS) process and all associated documentation including ongoing assessments and care plan development/modification, clinical record entries, policy/procedure development/revision/enforcement, Staff Development, and Infection Control.
• Serve as a role model to all members of the Pavilions' team in upholding the Organization's Code of Conduct, and ensuring compliance by the team through monitoring work performance and interpersonal relationships, addressing employee issues/concerns, conducting regular employee meetings on all three shifts, and participation in employee hiring/evaluations/discipline as needed.
• Maintain personal, professional growth, participate in educational offerings, and share new information/trends in nursing as related to nursing care in a long term care setting.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Subject to reassignment to other areas of the Organization to meet organizational needs/goals.

Subject to flexible hours to maintain management leadership on all shifts, including weekends.

Work environment may have noise, frequent interruptions, exposure to unpleasant odors, exposure to cleaning product chemicals and disinfectants.

Position requires standing, walking, lifting, bending, and sitting.

Prescribed dress will be in accordance with Organization's Dress Code.

Potentially dangerous equipment is utilized/maintained.

Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of Michigan. BSN preferred.

Prior experience in geriatric nursing and management preferred.

Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, including public relations skills are required.

Knowledge/acceptance of Intergenerational principles and Eden philosophy.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize.
