The Daily Mission: Get the Trash Picked Up Every morning before sunrise, this company has one critical mission: get every route covered, every can emptied, and every employee home safe. There is no mental health day in this business. The trash never stops so the trucks have to roll, or else. As Director of Operations, that mission belongs to you — not to perform it with your own hands, but to lead the people who perform it. New trucks and modern systems help, but this operation runs on man‑power: drivers, throwers, mechanics, and supervisors. Recruiting them, training them, retaining them and leading them well is the greatest challenge of this seat — and the reason it exists. The Seat You’re Filling This is the number‑two seat in the company — the operational right hand to the President and Owner. The President sets direction, develops new business, and plans capital investment. You run the operation that delivers on it, and you stand in for him when he’s not in the room. You will manage the department supervisors — Contract, Roll‑Off, Maintenance and Dispatcher. They execute the daily work. You build the standards, the systems, the people and the culture who make the daily work succeed. What You Will Own Capacity Management — matching trucks, drivers, throwers, containers, and route hours against demand — knowing when we can take on new business and when we need to add capacity before service suffers. Material Management — full oversight of our container fleet and material flows — roll‑off and dumpster inventory, placement, utilization, and repairs and upkeep. Resource Management — allocating people and equipment across departments and making the trade‑offs a single department supervisor can’t make alone. Recruiting, Training & Performance Review — owning driver hiring standards, the training bar every driver must clear before running a route solo, and formal performance reviews of the supervisors themselves. You build leaders, not just headcount. SOP Development — writing, maintaining, updating and enforcing the standard operating procedures for the whole operation — routing, inspections, safety protocols, maintenance handoffs. People & Equipment Documentation — Equipment inspections and registrations, incident documentation, Parts Inventory systems, Purchase Order systems, Fleet Maintenance programs, DVIRS, Repairs notices. When something goes wrong on the road, our paperwork is our shield — and it will be airtight under you. Safety & Compliance — Building, promoting and enforcing the safety culture that gets everyone home. Accident rates, safety audits, and DOT compliance are your scoreboard. Internal Escalation — you are the decision point above the supervisors. Cross‑department conflicts, major service failures, and problems beyond a supervisor’s authority stop at your desk — not the President’s. Financial & Operations Reporting — operational budget, cost per stop, route productivity, fuel, and downtime — reported to the President in a consolidated operational picture with recommendations, not just numbers. Fleet & Shop Oversight — oversight of the shop that keeps a modern heavy‑duty fleet road‑ready every morning — preventive maintenance discipline, downtime reduction, and support of the Maintenance Supervisor. Supporting the President Beyond daily operations, you will work shoulder‑to‑shoulder with the President/Owner on the responsibilities of running the whole company: Capital Investment Planning — weighing in on truck, container, and facility purchases with an operator’s eye. #J-18808-Ljbffr Eagle Transfer Services
