Maintenance Worker

Job Summary

The Maintenance Worker at Seven Holy Founders Catholic Church is responsible for maintaining parish and school buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for parishioners, students, staff, and visitors. This position performs a variety of maintenance tasks, including semi-skilled carpentry, basic plumbing and electrical work, painting, groundskeeping, and general repairs.

Job Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain the PSR building, including mopping and vacuuming floors, cleaning restrooms, and washing windows following weekly PSR meetings
• Maintain parish grounds by mowing, edging, watering, weeding, pruning, and raking on a seasonal basis
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs in the church, school, rectory, and other parish buildings
• Haul, move, and transport materials, equipment, and supplies as requested
• Collect and properly dispose of trash and garbage
• Maintain inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies and assist with ordering as needed
• Provide general maintenance assistance and support to parish staff as requested

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training preferred
• Knowledge of minor building repair and light carpentry; janitorial experience preferred
• Valid driver's license required
• Must pass diocesan background check and complete Safe Environment (VIRTUS) training
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to safely operate tools and equipment
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate self-motivation
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods
• Ability to work collaboratively with the Pastor and parish staff
• Responsible for the proper use and care of maintenance equipment and supplies
