Quality Inspector – Precision, Ownership & Growth

As a Quality Inspector, you’ll perform hands‑on, in‑process inspections directly on the production floor, ensuring every part meets strict customer, blueprint, and ISO/AS standards. You’ll work with advanced measurement tools, collaborate closely with production teams, and help elevate the organization’s quality performance.

️ What You’ll Do

• Perform in‑process inspections on the production floor to verify parts meet all quality and customer specifications
• Interpret blueprints and technical drawings with accuracy to determine critical dimensions and features
• Verify tolerances by inspecting each part against blueprint requirements
• Record measurement data on quality documents and data‑collection sheets
• Use precision inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, pin/thread gauges, gauge blocks, comparators, CMMs, VMMs, and vision systems
• Conduct visual inspections to identify defects, nonconformances, and potential quality risks
• Collaborate with production teams to maintain part accuracy throughout the run
• Follow ISO and AS standards and adhere to established quality procedures
• Identify process improvements and act as a forward‑thinking change agent
• Support quality initiatives that strengthen overall organizational performance
• Stop production when necessary and escalate issues to protect product quality
• Communicate clearly with production and quality leadership
• Ensure documentation accuracy for internal and external compliance

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven in‑process inspection experience in a production environment
• Strong blueprint reading skills including GD&T interpretation
• Proficiency with precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, and gauges
• Experience with CMMs and vision systems including VMM, Keyence, and Virtek
• Mechanical inspection experience in sheet metal or metal stamping
• Understanding of ISO/AS standards such as ISO 9001 or AS9100
• 2–3 years in metal fabrication or related work
• High attention to detail and accuracy in measurement
• Strong communication skills for constant interaction with production teams
• Ability to stay on feet and move between stations throughout the day

Additional Qualifications

• Sheet metal or stamping experience
• Familiarity with busy production‑floor workflows
• Exposure to press brakes, punch presses, lasers, CNCs from a quality perspective
• Continuous improvement mindset
• Comfort in loud manufacturing environments
• Cross‑department collaboration including quality and toolmaking teams

Work Environment

You’ll work in a large, well‑organized sheet metal manufacturing facility with press brakes, punch presses, lasers/turrets, CNC machines, and dedicated quality and toolmaking departments. The shop is loud but climate‑controlled , with ergonomic support for inspectors who stand for extended periods. The role is hands‑on, fast‑paced, and highly collaborative , requiring constant movement between machines and workstations to perform in‑process inspections using a wide range of precision tools and vision systems.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Paul, MN.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $29.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
