Nursing Advisor and Recruiter

Title: Advisor & Recruiter Department: School of Nursing Reports To: Nursing Program Administrator Classification: Staff-12 months Effective Date: TBD Standard Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week Employment Status: Full-Time Employment Classification: Exempt Job Summary The School of Nursing at KSU provides comprehensive, student-centered educational support services. The Full-Time Nursing Advisor & Recruiter will join a team of professionals in the School of Nursing who are dedicated to student success. This position will provide individualized academic advising, assist students in achieving timely degree completion, and support recruitment efforts for the Nursing Program at Kentucky State University. Essential Job Functions Serve as an academic advisor and recruiter for the School of Nursing, and engage with representatives from industry, government, and education sectors to support student career pathways and promote the program. Provide career advising to nursing students and alumni, including job search strategies, interview preparation, and resume and cover letter development. Conduct one‑on‑one advising sessions to guide students in course selection and the development of graduation plans aligned with academic goals. Assist students with selecting majors and understanding curriculum requirements. Provide accurate information regarding School of Nursing requirements. Support students during course registration and monitor academic progress. Address transition issues and refer students to appropriate campus resources as needed. Participate in retention‑focused initiatives and programming. Represent the School of Nursing at recruitment and outreach events, such as open houses and admissions functions. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required Strong listening, communication, and critical thinking skills Experience with retention data collection and reporting Knowledge of academic advising principles and student success strategies Familiarity with university enrollment services, academic policies, and procedures Effective interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with students from a wide range of academic and personal backgrounds Excellent written and verbal communication skills High attention to detail and accuracy Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) Ability to collect, interpret, and report data related to student retention Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to changing priorities Understanding of university policies, federal and state education regulations Flexibility to work occasional evening hours as assigned Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not have supervisory responsibility.
