Job Title: Shipping & Receiving Lead

Overview summary

Summit Staffing is seeking an experienced Shipping & Receiving Lead to oversee daily warehouse operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, and leading a team to meet production and customer deadlines. The ideal candidate has strong warehouse leadership experience and is proficient operating a Crown sit-down propane forklift. Responsibilities commonly include leading shipping teams, verifying shipments, operating forklifts, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring safe warehouse operations.

Type:  Temp to hire

Pay Range : $20- $22

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily shipping and receiving operations.
• Assign daily tasks and provide guidance to warehouse team members.
• Load and unload trucks using a Crown sit-down propane forklift.
• Verify incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy.
• Inspect materials for damage, shortages, or discrepancies.
• Prepare shipping paperwork, including Bills of Lading (BOLs), packing slips, and shipping labels.
• Stage materials for production and customer orders.
• Maintain accurate inventory transactions and perform cycle counts.
• Ensure orders are shipped accurately and on time.
• Communicate with production, logistics, carriers, and warehouse personnel.
• Train new employees on warehouse procedures and safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow OSHA and company safety policies.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and warehouse organization.

Skills & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years of Shipping & Receiving experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• Previous Lead or Team Lead experience preferred.
• Experience operating a Crown sit-down propane forklift is required.
• Strong knowledge of shipping documentation and inventory control.
• Experience using ERP or Warehouse Management Systems is a plus.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the shift.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
• Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
