Special Education Focused Elementary Teacher

The Montessori School of McLean (MSM) is seeking a unique individualto join our dynamic Elementary team for the 2026-2027 school year. We are looking for an AMS or AMI certified Elementary (Elementary I/II) who also has Special Education training. Successful Candidates will possess the following: The ability to teach consistent with Montessori educational practices for the elementary program level The ability to use best practices in both Montessori curriculum and Special Education to support students with unique needs A love for and deep commitment to working with children in the most formative years of their educational journey A warm and positive demeanor in all interactions with students, faculty, staff, and parents Strong oral and written communication skills with students, faculty, staff and parents A growth mindset in presenting and leveraging lessons to support the educational success of elementary students The ability to be flexible and work collaboratively with a dynamic elementary team to foster and encourage innovation and excellence in teaching within the Montessori pedagogy The ability to prepare and maintain an orderly, attractive, and clean environment in the classroom Skills in educational technology Position Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, preferably in Special Education If no Special Education degree, must have certifications in methods such as Orton-Gillingham or Lindamood-Bell AMI or AMS Montessori Diploma, or a Montessori Diploma from a MACTE recognized training center for elementary Minimum of 2 years elementary teaching experience Benefits: MSM offers a competitive benefits package that includes health insurance, retirement, and paid time off Salary commensurate with experience Opportunities throughout the year for professional development to enhance and augment individual growth and classroom teaching A vibrant faculty and staff that shares a passion for the Montessori philosophy School Information: MSM was founded in 1973 with one elementary and one primary classroom. With four spacious acres, MSM offers an AMS-accredited learning environment for students ages 2-12 with two toddler classrooms, five primary classrooms, two lower elementary classrooms, and one upper elementary classroom.
