Job Summary:
Supermicro is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager with exceptional networking software development and technical leadership experience to join our rapidly growing switch department. In this role, you will be involved in the design, development, and testing of switching software products. This position will be based at our headquarters in San Jose, CA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Networking Software Design & Development : End-to-end ownership key applications in the Super Fabric Manager (SFM) software. Understand and translate requirements into functional specs, design, implement, and review software. Deliver high-quality software on aggressive project schedules.
Collaboration, hiring & mentoring: Collaborate with cross-organizational stakeholders, product managers and technical leads to meet project goals. Mentor teammates on best practices and architecture. Actively lead team discussions, share feedback, and use strong verbal skills to drive collaboration and clarity. Hire high-performance engineers, build high performance teams and manage their performance
Customer Focus: Collaborate with external and internal customers and resolve technical issues. Use excellent verbal and interpersonal skills to understand customer needs and solve customer pain points. Deliver creative and innovative solutions to customer issues.
- Process Improvements : Take initiative to recommend and implement process improvements. Share ideas and lessons learned with the team in meetings and retrospectives.
Software Testing Automation: Lead building tools and scripts for continuous development and integration (CD/CI), software automation for the white box and black box testing, validate problem descriptions, perform detailed diagnostics, and resolve issues quickly.
Documentation & Communication: Ensure comprehensive documentation, create user guides, and write up methodologies. Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, verbally and in writing.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or equivalent experience. Masters degree is preferred.
A minimum of 12 years of extensive hands-on experience in networking software development.
A minimum of 5 years of extensive software development management experience
- Deep expertise in the data center networking with SONiC OS or similar. Hands-on design and development experience in the Intent-based Controller or Network Observability & Automation software or SDN.
- Experienced in design and development for the AI networking use cases: build & deploy backend, frontend, storage and HPC fabrics, fabric observability, fabric automation & troubleshooting. Preferred: Agentic AI development experience preferred.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication
Lead team meetings and discussions. Ability to receive and give constructive feedback
Experienced in hiring high-performance engineers and managing their performance
Collaborative approach to problem-solving in cross-functional teams.
Salary Range
$220,000 - $245,000
The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
