Pharmacy Tech - PRN - Days - PharmacyDHR Health - US:TX:Edinburg - DaysSummary:Perform under supervision a variety of technical duties related to the preparing and dispensing of drugs according to standard procedure.POSITION EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:Completed all continuing education requirementsHigh school diploma or equivalentValid Driver's LicenseGraduate of an ASHP-accredited pharmacy technician training program, preferredTexas State Board of Pharmacy certification required.Must be able to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.Good written and verbal communication skills required.Ability to read, write and speak EnglishAbility to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physiciansPrefer hospital experienceOne (1) year experience in an acute care hospital pharmacy strongly preferredResponsibilities:Fill physician orders/prescriptions, medication carts, or stock requisitions.Deliver medications and supplies to patient care and ancillary areas.Answer telephones and directs calls to appropriate personnel.Enter charges and credits for patient medications.Enter medication orders/prescriptions into the pharmacy computer system.Provide technical support for automated equipment (Automated Dispensing Units).Maintain logs, records and other required documentation. File documentation in the appropriate location.Complete and document all assigned medication storage area inspections at least monthly. Identify and replace outdated and unusable drugs. Monitor assigned quality improvement indicators of individual or departmental performance.
