About Richmond State Hospital: Richmond State Hospital is about the people we serve and the community relationships we have developed, dating back to 1890. Richmond State Hospital is a public behavioral health facility operated by the state of Indiana and one of six state psychiatric hospitals within the Family and Social Services Administration Division of Mental Health and Addiction. As part of a newly integrated system of state psychiatric hospitals, we serve consumers across the state as the Eastern Center of Excellence in Mental Health and Addiction Services. Nestled in northwestern Richmond, our beautiful campus provides a quiet and peaceful environment. We provide psychiatric and co-occurring treatment to all adults regardless of race, religion, sex, gender identification, age, handicap, national origin, and ability to pay for services. Richmond State Hospital offers individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, chaplain services, family therapy and education, group psych-education, rehabilitation therapies, and patient employment opportunities. Unit-based programming is augmented with campus-wide specialty groups. RSH has been a state leader in evidenced-based medication prescribing to both reduce the risks associated with polypharmacy and optimize clinical outcomes. The hospital clinical and medical leadership collaborate with the unit treatment teams to provide the most contemporary and comprehensive care possible. The salary for this position traditionally starts at $193,102.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package. A Day in the Life: Deliver Psychiatric Care and Education Prescribes and administers psychiatric care to patients including completing assessments, prescribing medications, and providing patient/family education to support recovery and informed decision-making. Lead Treatment Planning and Team Collaboration Serves in a leadership capacity on treatment teams and take an active role in providing appropriate clinical direction in the development of individual treatment plans to ensure coordinated care. Collaborates with physicians, psychologists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress to foster interdisciplinary alignment. Document and Diagnose Patient Conditions Gathers and maintains patient information and records, including social or medical history obtained from patients, relatives, or other professionals to support accurate diagnosis and treatment. Analyzes and evaluates patient data or test findings to diagnose nature or extent of mental disorder to guide appropriate interventions. Maintain Professional Standards and Governance Completes continuing educational opportunities to improve the field of medicine and comply with the medical-professional staff bylaws, rules, and regulations to uphold clinical excellence. Serves on selected standing hospital committees and demonstrate active participation, providing input within areas of competence to support institutional governance. This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary. What You'll Need for Success: Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following: The ability to demonstrate both an understanding of the contexts and systems in which health care is provided. Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions. Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders. Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Interacting with People at Different Levels The ability to demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that enables him/her to establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and members of health care teams. Board-Certified or Board-Eligible General Psychiatry MD/DO and subspecialty board certification if applicable. Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the state of Indiana as issued by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. Completion of an accredited residency training program in Psychiatry or subspecialty training if applicable. Individuals should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
