Job DescriptionLocation: Moody Outpatient Center\n\nPrimary Purpose\n\n\nResponsible for performing routine to complex quality images in at least two different modalities on a routinely scheduled basis.\n\nEducation\n\n\nMust be a graduate of an accredited imaging program for their primary pathway.\n\n\nExamples:\n\n\n Magnetic Resonance Imaging\n Radiography (with certification in Mammography)\n Sonography\n\nExperience\n\n\nMust have at least one year imaging experience for each certified modality\n\nCertification/Registration/Licensure\n\n\n If registered by ARRT; must have a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification from Texas Medical Board\n Must be credentialed through ARRT and /or RDMS\n Must possess two or more imaging subspecialties:\n Breast Sonography (BR)\n Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR)\n Mammography (M)\n\n\nMust have a current Healthcare Provider (BLS Level) CPR course completion card prior to hire and/or placement in job from one of the following:\n\n\n American Heart Association\n American Red Cross Rescuer\n Military Training Network\n\nSkills or Special Abilities\n\n\n Must be able to demonstrate time management, organizational and interpersonal skills.\n Must be able to demonstrate oral and written communication skills.\n Must be able to demonstrate advanced computer skills.\n Must be able to demonstrate routine to complex positioning ability to achieve images which meet quality criteria.\n Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and hospital staff.\n Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.\n Must be able to perform a team lift when setting up and removing moveable steps to the mobile mammography van.\n\nResponsibilities\n\n\n Must commit to work in any location or in any certified capacity as assigned by the leader (example 60% mammography and 40% in MRI).\n Performs the responsibilities depicted on the service area job description (example Mammo Technologist and/or MRI Technologist).\n Performs advanced imaging in at least two modalities and produces quality images for radiologists. Evaluates patient history and physicians orders to ensure appropriate procedures are performed.\n Complies with the Quality Control Program of the imaging service area to adhere to the quality requirements of Parkland.\n Maintains proper documentation on all relevant information systems to track the procedures performed on each patient.\n Communicates and consults with patients informing them of procedures to be performed to ensure that patients are as comfortable as possible.\n Proactively monitors workload between imaging service areas and communicates availability to modality leadership.\n Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals and mission of Parkland.\n Provides training and supervision to imaging students as they rotate through areas to ensure education requirements are met.\n Maintains a positive working relationship with employees, medical staff, patients and visitors to ensure efficient work processes. Serves as a resource person for other technologists.\n Participates in departmental Performance Improvement Programs, upholds 'ICARE' values and it's relationship to the work environment.\n Attends department and modality meetings satisfactorily.\n\nJob Accountabilities\n\n\n Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction.\n Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.\n Stays current on latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.\n Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans.
