The Recreational Therapist is responsible for completing comprehensive evaluations and developing individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the primary counselor and interdisciplinary team. This role uses therapeutic, recreational, and leisure-based activities to support patients' emotional, social, and behavioral health needs. The therapist monitors patient progress, adjusts interventions as needed, and facilitates both group and individual sessions to promote engagement, coping skills, and socialization. Additionally, this position plays a key role in discharge planning by educating patients and families on community resources and healthy leisure lifestyles to support ongoing recovery.

Applicants should have:

• Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy or related field required
• Master of Social Work degree preferred
• Current Recreational Therapist license
• Therapeutic Recreation Specialist certification
• Handle With Care within 30 days of hire
• Basic Life Support certification
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Maria Parham Health Franklin Facility, which houses a highly comprehensive 11-bed Emergency Department located in Louisburg. This stand-alone ED is fully staffed and equipped to accommodate any emergency situation with speed and efficiency. Our Franklin facility also includes a unique Behavioral Health unit to serve the mental health needs of our area's population. Our Behavioral Health Unit is divided between 20 adult psychiatric units for those between the age of 18 and 55, and a 13-bed geriatric unit for our population over the age of 55. Maria Parham Franklin also offers an array of outpatient testing and diagnostics. With 205 licensed beds, Maria Parham Health is equipped for every health care need one can encounter.
