Surgical Technologist II

Job Description At MercyOne Central Iowa, we are looking to hire a Surgical Technician to join our Operating Room. The Surgical Technician is responsible for preparing the operating room, instruments, equipment, and supplies for a surgical procedure, maintaining the sterile field during the procedure, and performing all related duties in accordance with MercyOne’s performance expectations. Responsibilities Prepare the operating room, instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedure. Maintain the sterile field during the surgical procedure. Scrub general cases, including general surgery, gynecology, urology, podiatry, and plastics. Serve as 2nd, 3rd, or 4th scrub in all surgical specialties. Adhere to MercyOne’s performance expectations and perform all defined services and related duties. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology with completion of a surgical tech apprenticeship or military program. Or graduate of an LPN program with surgical experience; or equivalent experience to demonstrate competency. Child‑Safety Training (CST) certification preferred but not required in Iowa, required within 18 months of hire if working in Illinois. LPN license required if graduate of an LPN program. BLS certification required. Mandatory Reporter. Ability to work with diverse groups of people, work under pressure, exercise independent accountability, and adapt to changing tasks without loss of efficiency. No prior experience required.
