Toolmaker

We are seeking an organized and technically driven Toolmaker specializing in Plastic Injection Molding to join our clients manufacturing team in North West Houston. In this role, you will bridge the gap between technical hands-on maintenance and operational oversight. You will be responsible for coordinating the lifecycle of approved mold tools , collaborating with external tooling vendors , and performing essential facility logistics to keep production running smoothly and safely. Core Responsibilities Tool Coordination & Lifecycle Management: Oversee, track, and coordinate the complete lifecycle and preventative maintenance schedules of all approved injection mold tools. Vendor Management: Work closely with external tooling vendors to manage outsourced mold builds, modifications, and major repairs. Ensure all external work meets strict internal quality and compliance standards. Operational Duties & Logistics: Safely handle specialized facility tasks, including operating heavy machinery such as forklifts and overhead cranes to transport, load, and store heavy mold tools. Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Inspect incoming and outgoing tools, identify defects (e.g., flash, venting issues), and determine whether repairs should be handled in-house or outsourced to a vendor. Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate tracking systems for tool history, vendor quotes, compliance certifications, and maintenance logs. Required Skills & Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a plastic injection molding environment, with exposure to tool maintenance, coordination, or vendor tracking. Vendor & Project Coordination: Demonstrated ability to act as a point of contact for external suppliers, evaluate technical quotes, and track project timelines. Technical Knowledge: Strong foundational understanding of injection mold mechanics Equipment Licensing: Valid forklift operator certification (or the ability to obtain one immediately upon hire) and comfort with safely rigging and moving heavy equipment. #J-18808-Ljbffr Voss Recruitment
