This role operates within a production shop organized in cells, where you will be responsible for setting up, loading, and running three fabrication machines such as lasers, punch presses, and brake presses. You will perform minor program edits, complete setups, and conduct first-piece inspections while using appropriate quality tools to verify parts. The facility is transitioning to a standardized set of Trumpf machines, and all programming is completed offline, allowing you to focus on efficient machine operation and quality output.

Responsibilities

• Set up, load, and operate three fabrication machines within a production cell, including combinations of laser, punch press, brake press, turret, saw, or burn table equipment.
• Perform minor program edits at the machine to ensure accurate and efficient production runs based on offline programming.
• Conduct complete machine setups, including tooling changes, material loading, and verification of machine parameters prior to production.
• Perform first-piece inspections to confirm parts meet specifications before running full production quantities.
• Use appropriate quality tools and measurement equipment to inspect parts and verify compliance with blueprints and basic drawings.
• Read and interpret blueprints and basic drawings to determine machine settings, part orientation, and required tolerances.
• Monitor machine performance during runs, identify issues, and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and throughput.
• Collaborate with team members within the cell to prioritize work, divide tasks, and meet delivery dates and production goals.
• Coordinate schedules and workload with other shifts and team members to ensure smooth shift crossover and continuous production.
• In some areas, order required materials and tooling to support production schedules and maintain adequate inventory.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow established safety procedures and guidelines.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts by contributing safety ideas and process improvements that enhance productivity and quality.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of fabrication experience running a brake press, saw, punch press, turret, or laser.
• Ability to set up, load, and run fabrication machines such as press brakes, punch presses, lasers, turrets, saws, or burn tables.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and basic mechanical drawings.
• Experience performing first-piece inspections and using quality tools to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
• Ability to perform minor program edits at the machine to support production runs.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
• Capability to work effectively within a production cell environment and manage multiple machines simultaneously.
• Willingness to work 2nd or 3rd shift with a 10% shift premium.
• Ability to coordinate and communicate with team members across shifts to ensure production continuity.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience operating multiple types of fabrication machines; the more machines you can run, the better.
• Comfort working in a highly autonomous environment where teams prioritize and divide work to meet delivery dates.
• Ability to manage basic material and tooling ordering responsibilities in areas where operators handle these tasks.
• Interest in continuing education and participation in internal training programs to upskill.
• Openness to contributing safety ideas and process improvements to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Work Environment

The facility is extremely clean and well lit, providing a comfortable and safe environment for production work. Operations are organized in production cells where components are produced as the starting point for other business units, creating a strong sense of connection to the final products. The site operates a mix of machines and is transitioning toward standardized Trumpf equipment, with all programming done offline so operators can focus on machine operation and quality. Teams work with a high degree of autonomy, prioritizing and dividing up work themselves to meet delivery dates and, in some areas, ordering their own materials and tooling. The schedule follows a 4x10s structure, typically running Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday, with most shifts starting around 2–3 p.m. and ending around 12 midnight–1 a.m. There are two openings on 2nd shift and three openings on 3rd shift, both offering a 10% shift premium. The environment promotes collaboration across shifts, with shift crossover coordination to ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $32.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
