Family Assistant & Childcare Provider

FAMILY ASSISTANT AND CHILDCARE PROVIDER

Jessica Maguire is seeking a reliable, organized, and caring Family Assistant and Childcare Provider to support Jessica and her school-age daughter. This role combines consistent childcare with household management and personal-assistant support. This is a part-time, hourly employee position.

Schedule: Approximately 20 to 25 hours per week

Compensation: $24–$27 per hour, depending on experience

Start date: August 2026

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Child Care and Activities

• Provide attentive, dependable care.
• Transportation to/from school, daycare, activities, or appointments as scheduled.
• Plan age-appropriate activities and outings.
• Coordinate playdates, birthday parties, gifts, and related logistics.
• Manage school-related administration, including forms, permission slips, teacher communication, and supply lists.
• Communicate with school and daycare regarding schedule changes, appointments, classes, or other relevant information.
• Help pack and organize belongings for family travel.
• Provide backup babysitting support during occasional evenings or weekends, as available and agreed upon in advance.

Home Management

• Complete household laundry
• Support meal planning, grocery shopping, and light meal preparation.
• Purchase groceries, household supplies, clothing, toys, and other needed items.
• Coordinate with the household cleaner.
• Help keep household systems, supplies, and frequently used spaces organized.
• Complete personal and household errands as needed.

Family Support

• Research and organize family outings, weekends, classes, events, and age-appropriate experiences.
• Coordinate backup babysitters when Jessica is traveling, teaching, or unavailable and family support is not available.
• Occasionally travel with family to provide continuity of care during work trips.
• Support packing, scheduling, reservations, and other family travel logistics.

Personal Assistant Support

• Schedule personal appointments, including medical, dental, extracurricular, and wellness appointments.
• Maintain the shared family calendar in coordination with office staff.
• Organize personal receipts and expenses for handoff to bookkeeping.
• Provide limited administrative support with organizing existing photos, uploading approved content, and scheduling prewritten posts. No strategy, copywriting, graphic design, or original content creation is required.

CHILDCARE WEEKLY HOURS

Seasonal Schedule Variations

• Tuesday: approximately 10:45 AM – 5:00 PM
• Wednesday: approximately 8:30 AM –5:00 PM
• Thursday: approximately 2:00/3:00 PM – 5:00 PM/6:00PM, August 27–November 20
• Friday: approximately 10:45 AM – 3:00 PM, with occasional extended hours during event weeks

Advance notice will be provided whenever possible when extended or adjusted hours are needed.

Childcare needs may vary during school breaks, family visits, travel, and other seasonal periods. During weeks when fewer childcare hours are needed, scheduled hours may shift toward household organization, errands, family logistics, or other agreed-upon responsibilities.

Requirements

• Prior childcare experience, preferably with school-age children.
• Reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
• Comfort driving throughout Pacific Beach and the greater San Diego area.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage changing daily priorities.
• Warm, patient, and dependable approach to childcare.
• Trustworthiness with home access, personal information, mail, purchases, and household responsibilities.
• Basic comfort using shared calendars, Canva, Playbook, and social media scheduling tools.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
• Professional references from prior childcare, household-management, or personal-assistant roles.
• Valid passport and willingness to travel occasionally with the family with advance notice.
• Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality and professional boundaries.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Hourly Compensation

$24–$27 per hour, depending on experience.

Retention Bonus

Because continuity is especially important, the position includes:

• $500 after six months of employment
• $1,000 after twelve months of employment

Paid Time Off

Paid sick leave will be provided in accordance with California law. After six months of employment, the position includes:

• Five paid vacation days (40 hours)
• Five paid sick or personal days (40 hours)
• Time off for designated holidays that fall on a regularly scheduled workday. The designated holiday schedule will be provided at hire.

Paid-time-off scheduling must be coordinated in advance whenever possible to ensure appropriate childcare coverage.

Mileage Reimbursement

All work-related mileage will be reimbursed at $0.76 per mile, including:

• School pickup and drop-off
• Dance classes and activities
• Appointments
• Errands
• Shopping
• Family-related transportation
• Event-related driving when applicable

Ordinary commuting to the first work location and home from the final work location is separate from reimbursable work-related mileage.

Family Travel

• Regular hourly compensation for all working time
• Compensation for required travel time
• All overtime will be paid in accordance with applicable California law
• Flights, accommodation, ground transportation, and meals
• A private hotel room
• Defined working and off-duty hours
• An additional overnight travel premium, established before each trip based on the travel schedule and responsibilities.

Travel dates, responsibilities, compensation, and expected working hours will be confirmed in advance.
