Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years Med/Tele RN experience required License: Valid RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - General Med/Tele skillset - Stroke experience - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - Tracheostomy care - Peripheral intravenous start - Chest tube management - Nasogastric tube placement - Drain and tube management (DOBHoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management) - PCA pump medication management, including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, IVF Description: We are seeking a MedSurg/Tele RN for a challenging and rewarding opportunity. This facility is a licensed hospital with a trauma and teaching focus. The primary emphasis is on decompressing the emergency department and other specialty areas within the hospital. The unit consists of multiple MedSurg and MedTele units with varying patient capacities. Patient types include adults and geriatrics. Common diagnoses involve COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, CHF exacerbations, falls with injuries, motor vehicle collisions with injuries, pulmonary embolisms, DVT, UTIs, pneumothorax, GI bleeds, and strokes. Ratios are unit-dependent: - MedSurg unit: 1:5-6, potentially increasing to 1:7-8 depending on acuity - Other units: 1:4 A CNA will support nurses by completing vital signs, blood sugars, providing hygiene care, and assisting with patient needs. A secretary will assist with administrative tasks within the unit. In-house respiratory therapy and hospitalists are available around the clock for patient care. Telemetry monitoring is a responsibility of the nursing team, who will interpret telemetry readings each shift. The facility uses an EMR for documentation and various advanced medical equipment for patient care. Nurses may be required to float to different units within their scope of practice as needed. The work culture promotes a familial atmosphere where all team members feel welcomed and valued. Travelers are expected to work a rotation of weekends and holidays as part of their commitment. A maximum of six days off can be approved, excluding holidays.
