Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Location: Apple Grove, WV

Pay:$25–$35/hour, based on experience

Schedule:50+ hours per week | 10-hour shifts | Day & Night Shifts Available

Assignment:Approximately 3 months | Possible Temp-to-Hire | Possible Temporary Assignment Through Approximately January

A reputable company with a growing operation in Apple Grove, WV is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join their team.

This is a highly skilled mechanical maintenance position and is not an entry-level opportunity. We are looking for experienced mechanical professionals with strong hands-on skills and the ability to work with industrial equipment, mechanical systems, hydraulics, and precision measuring tools.

What You'll Do

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician performs a wide range of tasks to ensure machinery and equipment are properly assembled, set up, maintained, and ready for operation.

Responsibilities include:

• Manage the Segment Mold Shop.
• Check alignments.
• Check bearings.
• Check rollers.
• Perform QC inspections.
• Dismantle, clean, repair, replace, install, maintain, and assemble hydraulic equipment.
• Lubricate mechanical equipment and perform welding repairs when necessary.
• Adjust equipment for proper operating gears, bearings, and shafts involving the application of press, sliding, and running fits.
• Operate simple machine tools, including drill presses, pipe-threading machines, power saws, and similar equipment.
• Perform mechanical repairs on cranes and mobile equipment.
• Lay out, install, maintain, and repair pipelines, fittings, fixtures, and pressure systems.
• Repair leaks in hydraulic systems.
• Remove and install complete operating components, including cylinders, oil motors, four-way valves, and check valves, and make necessary repairs.
• Change, set up, and adjust equipment as required by operating conditions.
• Utilize required computer systems for planning, executing, and reporting.
• Utilize mechanical and electronic diagnostic equipment, computer equipment, and a variety of precision instruments as necessary.
• Perform other duties and work assignments as required and directed.

Team Environment

• Work in a team setting and complete tasks in groups.
• A designated Lead will provide instructions and direction to associates.
• The Lead is responsible for paperwork and record keeping .

What We're Looking For

• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent technical training.
• Fluent English language skills.
• 5+ years of experience in a steelmaking plant , with arc furnace, casting, or rolling maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read and understand hydraulic and mechanical drawings as well as P&IDs.
• Skilled in the use of tools.
• Knowledge of measuring tools, including micrometers and calipers .
• Certification in forklift, various overhead cranes, man-lifts/scissor lifts, and other mobile equipment is preferred.
