Overview

An established farming operation near Ainsworth, Nebraska is hiring a dependable, driven Farm Manager looking for a long term opportunity. This is a working leadership role. You will make daily decisions on the ground and run equipment side by side with the crew, while reporting directly to ownership on strategy and results.

The role oversees approximately 5,000 acres of irrigated row crop ground, including corn and sorghum silage. All equipment is newer John Deere, and the operation runs modern auto steer and pivot monitoring technology throughout.

Duties and Scope of Work

• Service tractors, tillage equipment, and planting equipment ahead of the season
• Run tillage operations each spring
• Plant approximately 2,000 acres of corn and 3,000 acres of sorghum silage
• Clean up and break down planting equipment after planting
• Manage 40 to 50 pivots across a mix of irrigation district water and well water
• Order irrigation district water in advance and monitor daily water needs
• Monitor pivots remotely using phone based pivot monitoring systems
• Pump fertilizer through pivots as needed through the growing season
• Lead a small crew, including H2A team members, planning daily and seasonal work
• Report directly to ownership while managing day to day direction of the crew
• Coordinate with a custom hired crew during silage harvest
• Run the grain cart during corn harvest
• Run the combine as trust and experience build
• Handle fall fieldwork, including fixing pivot tire tracks and planting cover crops
• Winterize pivots and equipment, including pumping down undergrounds
• Participate in seed selection and other key farming decisions alongside ownership
• Take on increasing input and ownership in farming decisions over time

Qualifications

Required

• Experience running or managing a row crop farming operation
• Experience with corn and irrigated crop production
• Leadership experience managing a crew
• Comfortable running modern farm equipment
• Willing to relocate to the Ainsworth, Nebraska area and settle in long term

Plus

• Experience with pivot irrigation
• Experience with John Deere auto steer and AMS technology
• Basic mechanical or electrical troubleshooting skills

Compensation

• Starting salary in the range of $75,000 to $100,000, depending on experience
