RN – Pre/Post/PACUJoin our Surgical Services team as a Pre/Post/PACU Registered Nurse, where you'll provide exceptional care to patients before and after surgical and procedural interventions. In this role, you'll assess, monitor, educate, and support patients throughout their surgical experience while working collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, compassionate, high-quality care.This position offers the opportunity to develop advanced skills in perioperative nursing, including cardiac monitoring, recovery of anesthesia patients, and management of patients requiring specialized post-procedure care.Responsibilities include:Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for pre-operative and post-anesthesia patients.Monitor patients throughout recovery, recognizing and responding to changes in condition.Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated patient care.Administer medications, treatments, and interventions safely and in accordance with established standards.Provide patient and family education regarding procedures, recovery, discharge instructions, medications, and follow-up care.Maintain accurate clinical documentation and communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.Promote patient safety by adhering to infection prevention, regulatory, and accreditation standards.Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain required clinical competencies.Prepare patients and equipment for procedures while anticipating procedural and recovery needs.Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care that supports a healing environment.Qualifications include:Graduate of an accredited School of NursingCurrent New York State RN license (or NYS Limited Permit)BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications obtained through the RQI system during orientationBasic Coronary Care certification within 6 months of hireExcellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skillsAbility to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environmentPreferred qualifications include:Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)One year of Critical Care experienceExperience with electronic medical records and Microsoft OfficeCAPA or CPAN certification within two yearsWhy join our team?Work in a collaborative, patient-focused surgical environmentCare for patients across the surgical continuum from pre-op through recoveryDevelop specialized perioperative nursing skillsOpportunities for professional growth and specialty certificationSupportive team dedicated to providing exceptional patient careSchedule:Four 9-hour shifts per week with one weekday offShift start times vary between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.Required travel between Geneva General Hospital and Finger Lakes Surgery Center based on patient volumeCall Requirements:3–4 weekday call shifts per month, from the end of the scheduled shift until 7:00 a.m. the following morningOne full weekend of call every 6–7 weeks, from Friday evening through Monday at 7:00 a.m.Must be able to respond within 60 minutes when on callFlex Shift:One weekly flex shift, separate from the call scheduleIf flexed off, there is no requirement to return later that dayRole Expectations:Pre-Operative (Pre-Op)Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU – Phase I)Phase II Recovery (Post-Op)
