POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We seek a detail-oriented and skilled Scenic CNC Operator/Carpenter with a background in scenic fabrication. This role is responsible for setting up and operating CNC equipment, creating and editing CNC programs, and ensuring the quality and accuracy of scenic components. This role requires strong leadership, hands-on fabrication expertise, and the ability to collaborate across departments to meet production schedules and client expectations. The ideal candidate will also bring additional skills in carpentry, graphic design, and software tools (Illustrator/SketchUp) to support in-house scenic production.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Scenic CNC Operator/Carpenter, but is not limited to:

• Set up and configure CNC machines, including tool selection and necessary adjustments.
• Create, edit, send, and retrieve CNC programs from system files to produce scenic components per blueprints and graphics.
• Perform basic CNC programming as required.
• Independently install tooling and complete setups within required timeframes.
• Inspect and uphold the quality of all work produced.
• Perform in-process and final inspections to verify components meet quality standards and tolerances.
• Maintain accurate records of setup procedures, machining parameters, and quality control data.
• Inspect parts for malfunctions and troubleshoot as needed.
• Report and document required repairs.
• Keep accurate maintenance and repair activities records, including work orders, maintenance logs, and inspection reports.
• Assist the Operations Manager in coordinating pull lists, ensuring items are fabricated, painted, wrapped, protected, and loaded onto trucks accurately and on schedule.
• Collaborate closely with Operations Managers, Production Coordinators, and Fabrication Teams to align schedules and supply needs
• Interpret and build from construction drawings, blueprints, and fabrication specifications.
• Troubleshoot fabrication or construction challenges and implement effective solutions.
• Operate and maintain shop equipment; train team members to use safe and effective machinery.
• Ensure quality control of all scenic builds to meet company standards and client expectations. Check and send photos of received graphics (ART) for verification.
• Use Illustrator and/or SketchUp to produce in-house build drawings and set up files for production.
• Adhere to all company rules, regulations, and safety guidelines.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proven experience as a CNC Operator, ideally in scenic fabrication or related industries.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Familiarity with Illustrator and SketchUp is strongly preferred.
• Carpentry or scenic construction experience is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Hands-on woodworking and fabrication expertise.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, and travel, as needed.

• Must be comfortable supporting both remote coordination and onsite activities

• Fast-paced scenic shop environment.
• Hands-on role requiring use of machinery, tools, and software.
• Occasional lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
