Senior Scientist - New Product Development

Phenomenex seeks a Senior Scientist to develop and commercialize analytical chemistry solutions including sample preparation, chromatography, and LC-MS/MS products. The role involves designing methods for complex molecules and emerging therapeutics, collaborating across functions, and supporting product innovation in a Torrance-based laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

Develop and commercialize sample preparation, chromatography, and LC-MS/MS solutions for biopharma, clinical, and applied-market applications
Identify workflow challenges and translate customer and market needs into R&D opportunities and innovative product solutions
Design, optimize, and validate analytical methods across diverse analytes, biological matrices, and therapeutic modalities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute projects, transfer technology, resolve technical issues, and deliver products on schedule
Conduct literature review, experiments, data analysis, and prepare technical materials, publications, and patent documentation

Requirements

Master's degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biology, chemistry, or related field; PhD preferred
3+ years hands-on experience with bioanalytical workflows involving therapeutic modalities such as oligonucleotides, peptides, monoclonal antibodies, ADCs, mRNA, or AAVs
Strong experience with liquid chromatography, LC-MS/MS, mass spectrometry, method development, and troubleshooting
Demonstrated ability to design and interpret experiments assessing recovery, selectivity, sensitivity, reproducibility, matrix effects, and robustness
Capability to manage multiple complex R&D projects and communicate scientific results clearly in reports, presentations, and publications
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and work safely with chemicals, biological materials, and laboratory instrumentation
Willingness to travel occasionally and work overtime as needed for projects and business requirements

Compensation: $111,500–$135,000 base, plus bonus/incentive pay eligibility
